lM PROVEMENT IN PLOWS.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN P. PETTIT, ofGold Spring, in the county ofGampbell and State of Kentucky,haveinvented anew and useful Plow; andI do hereby declai e the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, referenoe being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification.
My said invention relates to the class of plows in which one or more rollers are employed to take the place of the mold-board for turning the furrow-slice; and it consists in a peculiar construction and combination, hereinafter described, of roller, colter, brace, sole, and landside.

The beam A and handles B may be of customary construction.
The colter O is somewhat broadened at the lower part of its rear edge, and is socketed to receive the nose ofa triangular sole, D, and the front pivot of my flaring, conical, and revolving mold E, whose rear endjournals in a brace, F, which extends from the beam to the landside-bar G.
The operation is as follows: The plow being drawn forward through the ground, the traction of the upraised ground acts to rotate the conical mold E, as per arrow, and thus relieves a great amount of friction.
This plow is chiefly intended for such tenacious sod or clayey soils'a can be turned in an unbroken furrow-slice.
I claim as new and of my invention herein- The combination of the single conical flaring roller E, colter O, sole D, curved brace F, and bar G, the said parts being constructed and arranged in the manner and for the purposes set forth.
