- the fundamental idea of the present invention is to build spinning or doubling frames on the subasscmbly principle thereby ensuring that the spring pieces and the parts attached to them are all fully identical and that all mountings for the components extending the full length of the machine are arranged on these spring pieces. It is also claimed that, in consequence of the special design and disposition of the bearers on the spring pieces the manufacturing process, including not only the mounting of the bearers on the spring pieces but also and particularly the erection of the entire machine, will be very considerably simplified and speeded up.
- the headstock of the machine and the spring pieces therefor which constitute individual, single castings and which extend the full width of the machine, are firmly joined together only by long rods or some similar arrangement in the upper section, and in the bottom section by the spindle rails; at the same time all mounting parts for the components along the entire length of the machine are secured to the spring pieces, the latter being of identical construction, and this applies particularly to the roller stands (i.e. drafting roller stands), the driving shaft bearings, the vertical push rods for the up and down movement of the ring plate carriers, and the brackets for the creel.
- This new machine frame construction considerably simplifies manufacture but most particularly simplifies the erection of such machines.
- the complete headstock and the spring pieces may be prefabricated as units. This means the saving of many hours of erection work and, furthermore, only a fraction of the space is required for the erection shops to permit of the assembly of such machines.

- the roller stands 5, the driving shaft bearings 6 and 7, brackets 3 to the creel, and also carrier plates 26 are bolted to the faces of the supports 2 by means of bolts running parallel to the length of the machine.
- support portions 22 29, 3t 31 (FIG. 3) are provided on the supports 2, the surfaces of the supporting portions 2%, 29 and 3%, 3i lying in parallel planes parallel to the main plane of supports 2. Due to this construction, not only is manufactore considerably simplified ⁇ drill-holes and bolt holes extend all in the same direction) but also the erection of the frame.
- a further advantage of this arrangement for the fixing of the individual supporting elements to the supports lies in the fact that the mountings can be very easily set during assembly, and in any required direction, as indicated on 5.
- the supporting elements 3, 6, "1', d and 9 previously mentioned are firmly located in precisely the same position on each support 2 by the use of centering devices, for example jigs or gauges, whereupon they are then firmly locked in this position by the dowel pegs 27 and form supporting units With supports 2.
- Preparation and assembly is effected as follows; the faces of supporting portions 28, 29, 3d and 31 are first prepared and suitably machined so that the surfaces of all of them are absolutely parallel to each other and to an imaginary plane of symmetry of the support 2.
- the surfaces 40 (see FIG. 1) of the supports 2 are provided with bores 41, using drills and gauges to receive the spindle rails and the holes running longitudinally of the machine are bored in the supports 2 to serve for fixing supporting elements 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. Since all the holes are tapped the above mentioned supporting elements can then be located by means of a gauge, jig or other centering device and firmly fixed to the supports 2 in their precise final position by means of bolts (or screws) indicated by reference numerals 32 to 37. Then the holes for the dowels 27 are drilled and said supporting elements are firmly fixed in their final relative position by means of said dowels. In this manner, the supporting units are prefabricated.

- a carrier plate 26 is in every case bolted to the lowest support portions 31 by means of a bolt 35 and fixed in place by dowel pins.

- the supporting units prefabricated in the manner described and fitted with supporting elements 5 to 9, facilitate the assembly of the machine to an extraordinary degree.
- the supporting units are fastened together and to the headstock solely by means of rods 3 which are inserted in the holes 52 of the supports 2 and are bolted up accordingly.
- setting screws are fitted to the supports 2, during manufacture of the latter, these setting screws being precisely adjusted as each supporting unit is assembled and are then looked in place by means of the two nuts 44.
- the assembled supportin units are aligned in the mill by two setting gauges 4-3 laid on the setting screws 43 of two adjacent supports 2, see 8. These two gauges are fined beforehand to the spindle rail 4- at the same distance apart as the supporting units. By laying a spirit level on the spindle rail, the supporting units are then so adjusted as to be perfectly upright and perfectly level.
- the supports 2 are provided with feet adjustable as to height to assist in this worl: of levelling off, these feet including base plate 17 and adjustable bolts as locked in place by nuts
- a spinning frame comprising, in combination, a plurality of spaced supporting units, each supporting unit including a support having lateral face means, a set of supporting elements mounted on said lateral face means for adjustment on the same and including supporting parts, and means for securing each set of supporting elements to the respective support in such a manner that said supporting parts of said sets of supporting elements of all supporting units are in exactly the same relative position; means for securing said supports of said supporting units to each other in a position in which corresponding supporting parts of said supporting elements of said supporting units are exactly aligned; and elongated integral members supported on aligned supporting parts of said supporting elements of said supporting units and extending over said plurality of supporting units whereby when said supporting elements of said supporting units are first adjusted to the same relative position and said supporting parts then aligned, said elongated integral members can be mounted on said supporting units.
- a spinning frame comprising, in combination, a plurality of spaced supporting units, each supporting unit including a support having lateral face means, a set of supporting elements mounted on said lateral face means for adjustment on the same and including bearing parts, and means for securing each set of supporting elements to the respective support in such a manner that said bearign parts of said sets of supporting elements of all supporting units are in exactly the same relative position; means for securing said supports of said supporting units to each other in a position in which corresponding bearing parts of said supporting elements of said supporting units are exactly aligned; and elongated integral shaft members supported on aligned bearing parts of said supporting elements of said supporting units and extending over said plurality of supporting units whereby when said supporting elements of said supporting units are first adjusted to the same relative position and said bearing parts then aligned, said elongated integral shaft members can be mounted on said supporting units.
- a spinning frame comprising, in combination, a plurality of spaced prefabricated supporting units, each supporting unit including an integral support having lateral face means, a set of supporting elements mounted on said lateral face means for adjustment on the same and including supporting parts, and means for securing each set of supporting elements to the respective support in such a manner that said supporting parts of said sets of supporting elements of all supporting units are in exactly the same relative position; means for securing said supports of said prefabricated supporting units to each other in a position in which corresponding supporting parts of said supporting elements of said prefabricated supporting units are exactly aligned; and elongated integral members supported on aligned supporting parts of said supporting elements of said prefabricated supporting units and extending over said plurality of supporting units whereby after alignment of said supporting parts said elongated integral members can be mounted on said prefabricated supporting units.
- a spinning frame comprising, in combination, a plurality of spaced supporting units, each supporting unit including a support having lateral face means including parallel faces on opposite sides of the support, a set of supporting elements mounted on said lateral face means for adjustment on the same and including supporting parts, and means for securing each set of supporting elements to the respective support in such a manner that said supporting parts of said sets of supporting elements of all supporting units are in exactly the same relative position; means for securing said supports of said supporting units to each other in a position in which said parallel faces of said supporting units are parallel with each other and in which position corresponding supporting parts of said supporting elements of said supporting units are exactly aligned; and elongated integral members supported on aligned supporting parts of said supporting elements of said supporting units and extending over said plurality of supporting units whereby when said supporting elements of said supporting units are first adjusted to the same relative position and said supporting parts then aligned, said elongated integral members can be mounted on said supporting units.

- porting elements of all supporting units are in exactly the same relative position, and including bolts and dowel pins passing through said flanges; means for securing said supports of said supporting units to each other in a position in which corresponding supporting parts of said supporting elements of said supporting units are exactly aligned; and elongated integral members supported on aligned supporting parts of said supporting elements of said supporting units and extending over said plurality of supporting units whereby when said supporting elements of said supporting units are first adjusted to the same relative position and said supporting parts then aligned, said elongated integral members can be mounted on said supporting units.
- a spinning frame comprising, in combination, a plurality of spaced prefabricated supporting units, each supporting unit including an integral support having lateral face means including parallel faces on opposite sides of the support, a set of supporting elements mounted on said lateral face means for adjustment on the same and including supporting bearing parts, and means for securing each set of supporting elements to the respective support in such a manner that said bearing parts of said sets of supporting elements of all supporting units are in exactly the same relative position; means for securing said supports of said prefabricated supporting units to each other in a position in which said parallel faces of said supporting units are parallel with each other and in which position corresponding bearing parts of supporting elements of said prefabricated supporting units are exactly aligned, and including spindle rail means extending over said supporting units; and elongated integral shaft members sup ported on aligned bearing parts of said supporting elements of said prefabricated supporting units and extending over said plurality of supporting units whereby after alignment of said supporting parts said elongated integral shaft members can be mounted on said prefabricated supporting units.
