UNITED STATES vPATENT OFFICE;-
WILLIAM ROLAND RUFUS 'IILLION, OF BROOKLYN, -NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO A. C. HALLAM, OF SAME PLACE.
POCKET-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 307,241, dated October 28, 1884.
Application filed August 29, 1884.
.To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, W. R. R. TILLION, of Brooklyn, (Green Point,) in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pocket-Fasteners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to` the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvment in pocket-fasteners; and it consists in the combinationof a disk, which is provided with perforations to enable it to be sewed to one of the inner sides of the pocket, and which disk is provided with a curved openended slot, with a disk having a headed projection extending therefrom, which is adapted to be secured to the opposite side of the pocket, whereby the pocket may be fastened by passing the headed projection into the slot, as will be more fully described hereinafter.
The accompanying drawing represents a side elevation of my invention complete.
A represents a circular disk or plate, which is provided around its circumference with a series of perforations, B, by means of which it can be sewed to one of the inner sides of the pocket. A curved open-ended slot, C, extends from one edge of this disk in toward the cen- (No model.)
| ter, where it communicates with a second slot,
D, which extends across the center of the disk, and which is slightly curved.
E represents a disk, which is considerably smaller than the disk A, and which is provided with apertures F, for securing it to the opposite side of the pocket, and with aheaded `projection or shank, G, which is adapted to be 4o passed into the slots C D, and thereby secure the upper sides of the pocket tightly together. The shape of the slots C D is such as to retain the headed projection or shank in place therein against any accidental displacement, but 45 will admit of having the pocket readily opened when it is desired to do so.`
Having thus described my invention, I claim- In a pocket-fastener, the disk A, having the 5o slots O D, in combination with the stud or shank, provided with means for securing it to the opposite side of the pocket, said stud or shank being adapted to enter the slots C D, for the purpose set forth, substantially as de- 55 scribed. l
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM ROLAND RUFUS TILLION.
