S B. HIGLEY.v
JOINTED DISPLAY FRAME. No. 306,335. Patented Oct. 7, 1884.
WITNESSES f Tans rrs SIMEON B. HIGLEY, OF TBENTON, MISSOURI.
JOINTED DISPLAY-FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 306,335, dated October .7, 1884.
Application filed January 25, 1884.
To aZZ'whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SIMEoN'B. HIGLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Trenton, in the county of Grundy and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Jointed Display-Frames, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of this invention, and is a perspective view. Fig. 2 is an end view.
This invention has relation to jointed display-frames for the use of grocers, confectioners, and others; and it consists in the construe tion and novel arrangement of devices, as hereinafter set forth, and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates the counter, wall, or other backing to which the display-frame is to be attached. The frame consists of a series of upper arms, B, to which are connected by pivot-joints, at D, a series of lower or brace arms, 0, slats H, resting on the upper arms, and attachmentplates, whereby the upper and lower arms are secured to the counteror wall. The attachment-plates E and F are usually made with perforated projecting lugs a, for the passage of the pivot-pins, whereby the barrels b, at the upper and lower ends, respectively, of the upper and lower arms are connected to said plates. Each upper arm B is pivoted to a lower arm (3, as indicated at D, so that in adjusting the frame the attachment-plates may be secured to wall or counter at any distance apart, in accordance with the degree of inclination which is desired to be given to the upper arms. The lower end of each up per arm B is formed or provided with an up (No model.)
wardly-projecting flange or post, G, which is at right angles with the arm, and is perforated at c for the passage of a tack or small screw adapted to hold a longitudinal guard-slat, K, to these flanges. On the upper arms are placed the shelf-slats H, which are also secured in position by means of tacks or screws passing through perforations d in said arms. The brackets composed of the upper and lower arms are to be adjusted so that the upper arms will all have the same degree of slope or inclination, and when the slats are secured thereto a substantial shelf-frame is provided, uponwhich boxes, trays, canisters, and other receptacles can be placed ininclined position, so that the goods therein are displayed to advantage. The angle of inclination should be such that the salesman can conveniently get at the goods when making sales.
The arms and attachment-plates are designed to be made of metahand the slats of Wood.
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s
A jointed display-frame consisting of the upper arms, 13, having the perforated upward projections G at their lower ends, the lower bracearms, O, pivoted to the upper arms at D, the attachment-plates to which the upper and lower arms are respectively connected, the front guard-slat, and the shelf-slats connected to the upper arms, substantially as specified. v
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SIMEON B. HIGLEY.
