Beit known that I, THoMAs A. Bnnnimn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Pleasant, Henry county, Iowa, have invented a new and useful Sash Fastener and Lock, of which the following is a specification.
'Hy invention relates to improvements in sash fasteners and locks in which a circular button is used, unaided by springs, levers, or any of the usual attachments, pivot-ed eccentricall y to the frame in a recess of the inside windowstrip.
The object of my improvement is to pro-l duce a continuous friction on both sides of the sash throughout its entire length. I attain this object by the device illustrated in the accoinpanying drawings, in Which- Figure l is a view of the recessed strip in place in the frame with the button in place. Fig. 2 is a face view of tlielocking-button with eccentric. Fig. 3 is an obverse view of the locking-button with flange.

A is an inside windowstrip, standing in a recess in the sill B, and secured to the frame at the top by a screw passing through a horizontal slot therein, the recess in the sill being lengtlicned in the direction of the sash, to al low the strip to move horizontally toward the same.
L is the locliingbutton, of wood, metal, or other suitable material, pivoted to the side of the window-frame, and provided with the iiange F in its obverse side to hold the strip in place, and an eccentric, E, upon its face.
The operation of my invention is as follows: The locking-button L is turned so as to cause the eccentric to bear upon the movable window-strip A, thus producing a continuous friction on both sides of the sash throughout its length, and locking it vsecurely Whether down or raised.
That I claim, and desire io secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, in a window-trame, of the locking-button L, in one piece, provided with the ange F and the eccentric E, with the movable stripA, suspended at the top by a single screw, and inserted in a recess in the sill to produce continuous friction in both sides of the sash, substantially as and for the purpose described.
