Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID B. KINNE, OFROGHESTER, NEYV YORK.
WAGON-JACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 300,984, dated June 24, 1884.
Application filed May 5, 1884. (No model.)
To all whom itmaty concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID B. KINNE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Rochester, in the county of Monroe and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wagon-Jacks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of one side of my improved wagon-jack, showing it adjusted ready for use. Fig. 2 is asimilar view of the opposite side of the same, and Fig. 3 is a perspective 'view showing the jack in positionto support the axle of a vehicle.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
My invention has relation to wagon-jacks; and it consists in the improved construction of a device of that class, as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, A denotes a piece of board or timber, which is cutoff on one side to form the incline B, having two steps or offsets, O and D. Hinged upon this part A by means of the links E, F, and G is the movable part H, the under side of which is cut off slantingly, as shown at I, and provided with offsets J and K, adapted to rest upon the shoulders G and D of the stationary part A, when the movable part H isin its raised or elevated position, for supporting a wagon. The upper end of the part H is provided with a series of steps, L, M, and N, upon any one of which the wagon-axle may be placed, and is also provided with a projec- 0 the links E, F, and G is the lever I which 5 has its fulcrum upon the bolt Q, and is fastened to the movable part H by means of the bolt B. By operating this lever it will be seen that the movable part H may be raised or lowered; and when. lowered for the purpose of lifting the movable part H up into its raised position for supporting the wagon-box this movable part will be supported upon the shoulders or offsets O, D, and O of the fixed part or base-piece A.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States The combination, in a Wagon-jack, of the upright base A, having incline B, and steps or offsets O, D, and O, movable part H, having steps or offsets J, K, L, M, and N, hingelinks E, F, and G, lever P, and bolts Q and R, the whole constructed and combined to operate substantially in the manner and for the purpose shown and set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own Ihave hereunto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
