Description
UNITED sTATEs PATENT oEErcE.
I-I. F. DROTT, 0F CUMBERLAND, MARYLAND.
EGG-BEATER.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 30,053, dated September 18, 1860.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, H. F. DROTT, of Gumberland, in the county of Allegany and State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Egg- Beaters; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact descripw tion of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters ot reference marked thereon.
In the annexed drawings making a part of this specification, Figure l represents a vertical section. Fig. 2 is a perspective of the top portion of the beater.
In the figures A represents an ordinary tin cup, provided with a handle B. This cup is made in the usual manner and may be made of any desired size. I deem a quart cup, large enough for family use generally.
C, represents a top which is made to it snugly upon the cup A, so that the egg or any fluid in the cup, will not be able to leak out.
D, represents a gauze wire partition which is secured to the top, C, by means of thin strips of metal marked E, E. The distance at which this wire partition is secured from the top C, depends upon the depth of the cup to be used.. It the cup is six inches deep, the partition is secured three inches from the top. The partition is always intended to be extended down to about the center or midway of the cup when the top is placed on in proper position for use. The openings in the gauze should be about -lof an inch. In using this cup for beating eggs, the eggs are lirst broken and poured in to the cup A, the top C, is then pressed on tightly as seen in Fig. l, and a backward and forward endwise motion is given to the cup, the motion being sufficiently violent to force the eggs through the gauze wire which cuts them up at every passage through, until they become exceedingly light. Thirty seconds of violent agitation in this way is amply sntiicient in many cases-and in one minute eggs may be made as light by this process as by any other now known.
That I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The employment of the gauze wire partition D, in connection with the cup A, and close itting .cover C, the eggs being forced or driven through the partition substantially as and for the purpose herein specified.
H. F. DROTT.
Witnesses C. M. ALEXANDER, A. W. YETTMAN.
