DEVICE FOR THE PROTECTION OF BULLS IN SIMULATED BULLFIGHTS Filed July 51, 1959 INVENTOR BONIFACIO FRESNILLO PENA ATTORNEY 2,975,760 Patented Mar. 21, 1961 DEVICE FOR THE PROTECTION OF BULLS IN SIMULATED BULLFIGHTS Bonifacio Fresuillo Pefia, Espoz y Mina 12, Madrid, Spain Filed July 31, 1959, Ser. No. 830,870
Claims priority, application Spain Nov. 7, 1958 1 Claim. (Cl. 119-143) The present invention relates to a device adapted to the protection of bulls in simulated bullfights.
It is one object of the present invention to provide a device for the protection of bulls in simulated bullfights which comprises a cork board of suitable size and shape disposed on the shoulders of the bull and two belts crossing the chest and shoulders of the bull.
With this and other objects in view, which will become apparent in the following detailed description, the present invention will be clearly understood in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which the only figure is a perspective front .view of the device designed in accordance with the present invention.
Referring now to the drawing, the protecting device comprises a cork board 1 of the required size and into which the banderillas (darts) are driven without hurting the bull, since the thickness of the cork board is sufiicient to prevent the penetration of the darts.
The cork board is marginally covered by a cork strip 2 secured by any suitable means.
The cork board is to be horizontally placed on the withers of the bull.
Two lateral openings 3 are provided in the cork board 1 which openings 3 are of a large size since they are adapted to receive the rapiers or swords in hanging sheaths to simulate the killing of the bull.
Leather or the like belts 4 extend from the lower part of the cork board and cross at the shoulders of the bull.
Cross belts 6 connect the belts 4 and 5 at the upper part of the front legs of the bull.
A belt 7 of a suitable length is connected to the belts 4 crossing the shoulders of the bull and which will serve for its connection to a device adapted to limit the movements of the bull in the bull ring.
The above-described device protects the bull and allows all of the possibilities of fighting the bull to be applied in such instances where the conventional bullfights, ending with the killing of the bull, amount to a violation of the existing laws. I
While I have disclosed one embodiment of the present invention, it is to be understood that this embodiment is given by example only and not in a limiting sense, the scope of the present invention being determined by the objects and the claim.
A device for the protection of bulls in simulated bullfights, comprising a cork board having two large laterally disposed openings extending therethrough, greater in one dimension than the other dimension, and adapted to be positioned on the withers of a bull, two first belts adapted to cross, respectively, the shoulders and the chest of said bull, and laterally connected by two second belts adapted to engage the lower part of the ribs of said bull, and a third belt connecting together said second belts, said third belt having holes adapted for connection with a mechanical device limiting the movements of said bull in the bull ring, said cork board being adapted to protect the bull against being hurt and to receive darts and swords driven into its surface through said lateral openings provided with hanging sheaths, said cork board having a marginal cork covering, and means for securing said cork covering to said cork board.
