2 Claims. (Cl. 128-232) This invention relates to a med-'ical device or appliance.
The object of the invention is to provide a medical appliance which can be used for discharging a quantity of iluid or liquid into a desired area.
Another object of the invention is to provide a medical appliance which includes a syringe that is adapted to be g connected to a tube and wherein the tube can be strapped on to or connected to a portion of a person-s body so that fluid can be dispensed or discharged into any desired iea and wherein the uid may contain medication or the Another object of the invention is to provide a medical appliance which is extremely simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the follow-ing description.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this application, and in which like numerals are used to designate like parts throughout the same.
Figure 1 is an elevational view illustrating the medical appliance of the present invention, and with parts broken away and in section.
Figure 2 is a sectional View taken on the line 2 2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary sectional view illustrating a plug for closing the end of the stern that leads from the syringe, when the device is not being used.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral indicates a support member which may have a flaring or tapered shape, and the support member 16 is provided with an open end which is threaded internally as at 11. Extending from the support member 10 and secured thereto or formed integral therewith is a hose or tube 12. A plurality of bands or straps 13 which may be made of any suitable material such as rubber, are connected to a portion of the tube 12, and the bands 13 are adapted to be connected to a suitable supporting member such as a portion of a persons body.
From the foregoing, it is apparent that there has been provided a medical appliance which can be used for discharging or dispensing a predetermined quantity of fluid, medicine or the like into any desired location. In use, the syringe 14 is adapted to hold a suitable quantity of the fluid to be dispensed, and then with the parts arranged as shown in Figure 1 for example, it will be seen that the neck 16 of the syringe 14 is arranged in threaded engagement with the portion 11 of the support member 10. The bands 13 which .may be made of yieldable or resilient material such as rubber, may be connected to a portion of a persons body whereby an end of the tube 12 can be supported so that the fluid issuing through the tube 12 can be discharged in a desired area. With the parts arranged as shown in Figure 1, it will be seen that upon application of manual pressure to the bulb 14,
Patented Aug. 9, 1960 fluid or the like within the bulb 14 will be dispensed out through the stem 16 and this fluid will then pass out through the elongated tube 12 and the end of the tube 12 is open so that the fluid can be discharged therefrom into any desired area. The device is constructed so that the bands 13 permit an end of the tube 12 to be supported in a position which is contiguous to the area that is to be covered or saturated with the fluid, while the bulby 14 can be conveniently held in a somewhat remote location. The bands 13 are resilient or yieldable, and it will be seen that the bands 13 will expand or contract sufficiently so as to permit the tube to be attached to portions of a persons body which are of different sizes or shapes. When the device is not being used, the plug 18 may be mounted on an end of the stem `16 so lthat the iluid will not accidentally leak out.
The device or appliance of the present invention is comfortable to wear, and the parts can be made of any suitable material and in different shapes or sizes. The bands 13 may be loose on the tube 12 or else they may be secured thereto, and these bands .13 may be spaced apart in any desired position. The entire article 4is preferably made quite small so that it can be conveniently carried from place to place.
As a specific example of the use of the present invention, the bands 13 may be fitted over a penis so that the tube 12 is at the lower part thereof, and then the tube 12 can lead between the legs s0 that the bulb 14 can be conveniently gripped or held in the users hand. FIlhe bulb 14 may be lled with any suitable material to be dispensed such as a material to be used in articial insemination, a medicine to prevent disease, or the like or any other suitable medication and the device will permit the material to be directed in the exact location desired with greater efficiency.
While I have shown a preferred form of my invention, I reserve all rights to such modifications as properly fall within .the scope of the invention as claimed.
I cla-im:
1. In a medical appliance, a support member having a tapered shape and provided with an open end, the inner portion of said support member being threaded n adjacent the open end thereof, a tube extending from said support member, a plurality of spaced apart bands connected to a portion of said tube, and a syringe including a manually operable bulb arranged outside of said support member, said syringe including a threaded neck arranged in threaded engagement with the threaded portion of said support member, and a stern projecting into said support member and connected to said bulb.
2. ln a medical appliance, a support member having a tapered shape and provided with an openend, the inner portion of said support member being threaded adjacent the open end thereof, a tube extending from sard support member, a plurality of spaced apart bands connected to a portion of said tube, a syringe including a manually operable bulb arranged outside of said support member, said syringe including a threaded neck arranged in threaded engagement with the threaded portion of said support member, a stern projecting into said support member and connected to said bulb, said stem being provided with a threaded end portion, and a plug removably mounted on the threaded end portion of said stem to prevent the leakage of liquid from said syringe into said support member.
