centric, of a funnel of-the length of the throw of the eccentric, and an oil'chamber constructed to'deliver the oil into the funnel, as will be more fully set forth hereinafter.
In steam-engines, and particularly in lhe modern high-speed engines, all parts must be thoroughly lubricated to prevent friction and heating. In most parts the ordinary oil-cup can be used; but on the eccentric the ordinary cup cannot be used successfully, owing to the motion of the eccentric.

In the drawings, a is the crank-shaft. I) is the eccentric. c is the eccentric strap or ring. dis the connecting-rod; e, a funnel secured to the eccentric-ring 0, and connecting by a hole with the bearing-surface. The funnel e is of a width less than the width of the eccentric, so as not to project over the sides of the same, as in the modern high-speed engine all parts are built so close together that any device wider than the eccentric could not be used. The length of the funnel e is equal to or more than the throw of the eccentric.
f is a bracket by which the oil-cup g is sup ported over the funnel e, and at all parts of the motion of the funnel will deliver the oil into the same. The oil-cupgis provided with any one of the well-known devices for regulating the supply of oil, and as the oil-cup is a fixture, the same may be at all times regulated and supplied with oil. With. this device the eccentric of the highest-speed engine can be well and thoroughly lubricated without waste of oil, as only drops fallinto the funnel, and no oil in mass is ever contained therein to be affected by the motion of the eccentric.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. An improved lubricator for steam-engines consisting of a fixed reservoir for the bulk of lubricant, and an attachment secured to-a moving part of the machine, for conveying the lubricant from the reservoir to the bearing-surfacesof said moving part, the said attachment being at its receiving end of greater length than the throw of said moving part, wherebythe lubricant is at all timesreceived from the reservoir.
2. The combinatioinwith an engine-eccentrio, of a funnel secured to the eccentric, and a reservoir fixed upon a rigid portion of the engine, the mouth of said funnel being of greater length than the throw of the eccentric, for the purposes set forth.
