UNITED STATES PATENT Enron.
HORACE S. LOOMIS, OF AUBURN, NEWV YORK.
DUMPING-WAGON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 288,823, dated November 20, 1588.
Application filed August 4, 1883.
10 all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, H. S. LOOMIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Auburn, in the county of Cayuga and State of New York,
have invented certain new and useful Im provcments in Dumping-"Wagons, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention has for its object to provide a wagon from which the load may be conveniently dumped, as more fully hereinafter specified. These objects I attain by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a top view of my improved wagon; Fig. 2, a bottom view of the same, and Fig. 3 a central vertical transverse section of the wagon.
The letter A indicates the frame or truck of the wagon, mounted upon the axles B, which are provided with the usual wheels, 0. The
front and rear ends of the said frame or truck (No model.)
fastened to them the chains G, which are also fastened to the lower edges of the respective parts of the body, the bars F being provided with cranks, whereby they may be rotated to wind the chains and elevate the parts of the body to dump the load.
The wagon-body, midway between the ends, rests upon rollers H, journaled in suitable bearings in the curved frame 1:.
I reserve the right to slightly vary the construction of the parts without departing from the spirit of my invention. 7
Having thus described my invention, what I'claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s
1. The combination, with the wagon-frame, of the wagon body divided longitudinally into two parts, which are pivoted to vertical standards at each end of the frame, at the top thereof, and the bars and elevating-chains, all arranged to operate substantially as specified.
2. The combination, with the wagon-body, divided and pivoted as described, of the supporting-rollers, upon which the central portion of the body rests, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HORACE S. LOOMIS.
