SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 288,085, dated November 6, 1883.

Be it known that I, FRANCIS MALLoY, a citizen of the United States, residing atNorristown, in the county of Montgomery and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Improved Holyater Font made of Glass, Porcelain, or other Suitable Material; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, reference, being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification, in. which- Figure 1 is a sectional View, and Fig. 2 is a top View, of my invention.

My invention has for its object to supply'a device which shall be at once a dipping-font for holy water and a reservoir therefor, said reservoir forming the pedestal for the font.

My invention consists of a holy-water font provided with a pedestal in the form of a bot tle, 'theneclnof which is concealed and covered by the foot or stem of the font, substantially as hereinafter set forth. I

Referring to the accompanying drawings,A indicates the font proper, which consists of v a vessel, A, of cup shape or approximate form suitable for holding holy water, and for permitting fingers to be dipped therein, said font being made of glass,'china, or other suitable material, according to any of the usual and Well-known methods of manufacture. The configuration of the vessel may be varied to suit difierent devotional tasks, and-the edge of the vessel should have a projection or lug,

This prevents the font from being easily tipped over on its support,

The device is intended to stand upon a table, bureau, or other piece of furniture or fixture, so as to permit theholy water in the font to be readily dipped. W'hen the font re quires replenishing,it is lifted off the pedestal and a fresh supply poured out from the bottle. When the font is lifted off the bottle, as suggested, it will stand upon its foot, or it may be held in the hand.- 7

What I claim as my invention is- 1. The device herein described, consisting ofa vessel, A, with sooketed stem and foot, and a bottle-shaped reservoir, 13, substantially as shown and described. V

2. The combination, with dipping-vessel A, having stem a and foot or flange A", said stem and foot having a socket, of reservoir or bottle B, having neck b and annular breast-flange b, substantially as shown and described.
