Application filed July 2, 18 83. (No specimensn My invention relates to an improvement in lubricating compounds, and which is adapted not only for preventingfriction between movf ing parts, but for cooling parts which have become heated; and it consists in the combination of suitable ingredients in or about the proportions which will be more fully described hereinafter.
In making this compoundItake equal parts 7 of black-lead, sulphur, alum, and salt. These four ingredients are first reduced to a fine powder, and then mixed thoroughly together.
'The compound then consists of a powder,
which is used by simply placing a suificient quantity of it between the moving surfaces when it is to be used as a lubrioator, and which is to be placed over and around the parts which have become already heated, for I the purpose of cooling them. 7
