It is particularly advantageous in that the spoons are retained securely upon the placard in cooperation with a rack bar and the placard itself and the spoons and rack bar may readily be removed from the placard for subsequent utilization as a kitchen unit.

The foregoing describes some of the features and objects of the invention and other and further features and objects will become apparent as the description proceeds.

To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, this invention then comprises the features hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims, the following description setting forth in detail certain illustrative embodiments of the invention, these being indicative, however, of but a few of the various ways in which the principles of the invention may be employed.

This invention will be described with reference to the drawings in which corresponding numerals refer to the same parts and in which:

Figure 1 is a collapsed elevational view of the device with the spoons missing therefrom;

Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary horizontal sectional view taken along the line and in the direction of the arrows 22 of Figure 1;

Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary vertical sectional view taken along the line and in the direction of the arrows 33 of Figure 1; and

Figure 4 is an enlarged collapsed fragmentary elevation similar to Figure 1 but showing a spoon in retained position.

Reference is now made to Figures 1 and 4 of the drawings. In the drawings, the supporting sheet or placard generally designated 11 supports the rack bar or frame 12. The sheet or placard 11 may be of any desired configuration and of suitable material. In the preferred modification, shown in Figure 1, it is rectangular and provided with major edges 13 and 14, minor edges 15 and 16, and is of stiff cardboard. For unique displays, oval, irregular, pentagonal or other shapes, might readily be used. Likewise, the placard could be comprised of synthetic resinous material, thin wood sheeting, etc.

Adjacent the bottom edge 14 of the placard but spaced upwardly a substantial distance therefrom and spaced inwardly from edges 15 and 16 are four pairs of horizontally parallel cuts of equal extension, forming bands 19, 20, 21 and 22, bands 19-22 being depressed forwardly from the material or face of the placard 11 as shown in Figure 3.

While the parallel horizontally extending cut lines form- 2,845,176 Patented July 29, 1958 ling the bands 19, 20, 21 and 22 may be spaced equidistantly apart, the space between the bands 19 and 20 is greater than the space between bands 20 and 21, and 21 and 22 and the space between bands 20 and 21 is greater than the space between bands 21 and 22, in this instance so that spoons having bowls of progressively smaller diameter may be accommodated as will be subsequently explained. The distance between the various cut lines forming the bands may be varied within the contemplation of this invention.

Secured at a point approximately two-thirds of the way upwardly on the placard 11.and extending between edges 15 and 16 thereof and positioned parallel to bands 19-22 is the rack 12. The rack 12 comprising securing flanges 23 having rounded ends 24 although other ends may be provided as desired, forwardly extending flanges 25 and an inwardly turned channel member comprising front face 26 and inwardly turned flanges 27 and 30, the flanges 27 and 30 being bevelled at 31 at their ends as shown in Figure 2.

The rack bar 12 is provided with cut lines forming bands 19A-22A, similar to and cooperating with bands 19-22. The bands 19A-22A have the configuration shown in Figure 2 and are provided with a forwardly extending center protuberance 32 as shown in Figure 2. The bands 19A-22A are vertically spaced with reference to bands 19-22 and in vertical alignment with cooperating members of bands 19-22 so that the handles H of spoons S may be secured therein.

The flanges 24 are secured to the placard 12 in this instance by split end rivets 34 although grommets, screws, or other suitable means may be utilized so that the entire rack 12 may be removed from the card and the apertures in flange 24 through which the rivets 34 are passed may be used to accommodate screws or nails to secure the rack to the wall in a kitchen or other place.

With the bands 19A-22A in vertical alignment with bands 1'9-22, a spoon may be placed so that its handle H penetrates the loop formed by the bands 19A-22A with the front face 26 and the loop formed by the bands 19-22 with the front face of the placard 11 as shown for bands 19 and 19A in Figure 4.

In this instance the spoons utilized in bands .20-22 and 20A-22A are identical with the spoon S shown for the bands 19A and 19, but have progressively smaller bowls and that the spacing of the bands 19A-22A and 19-22 will insure substantial equal distance between the edges of adjacent bowls as they are positioned in the rack 12. The device may he used to hold spoons with uniform sized bowls or other bowls, as desired, or to hold forks, knives, etc.

As many widely differing embodiments of this invention may be made without departing from the spirit and scope thereof, it is to be understood that the specific embodiment described are given by way of example only and the invention is limited only by the terms of the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A display device comprising a planar placard having a plurality of parallel substantially co-extensive score lines forming a plurality of integral defined band portions, said band portions being depressed forwardly from the surface of said placard, a rack bar member removably secured to said placard, said rack bar member comprising a portion spaced from said placard and providing a plurality of forwardly extending band members, one of each of said band members being positioned in ver tical alignment with one of said integral band members.

A display device comprising a placard having a plurality of parallel substantially co-extensive score lines forming a plurality of integral defined band portions, said band p'oflions being"d'epre'ssed forwardly from the surface of said placard, a rack bar member removably secured to said placard, said rack bar member comprising:

one of each of said band members positioned parallel with and in vertical alignment with one ofsaid integral band members.
