Application May 18, 1955, Serial No. 509,193
2 Claims. '(Cl. 248-106) The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in baby bottle holders for use particularly in cribs or beds, and has for one of its important objects to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a device of this character which may be expeditiously adjusted as desired to meet substantially all conditions.
Another very important object of the invention is to provide an adjustable holder of the aforementioned character which comprises novel means for firmly securing the bottle in position in the device.
Other objects of the invention are to provide an adjustable baby bottle holder of the character described which will be comparatively simple in construction, strong, durnited States Patent Ofiice able, compact, light in weight, safe, highly efficient and .reliable in use and which may be manufactured at low cost.
These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view, showing a baby bottle holder constructed in accordance with the present invention in use;
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the device;
Figure 3 is a fragmentary view in longitudinal section, taken substantially on the line 33 of Figure 2; and
Figure 4 is a cross sectional view, taken substantially on the line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises a base of metal, plastic or other suitable material which is designated generally by reference character 5. The base 5, which may be of any desired dimensions, is substantially U-shaped in cross section and comprises a bottom 6 and integral, upstanding side walls 7 of substantially the shape shown. The intermediate portion of the base 5 is bent inwardly and folded upon itself in a manner to provide vertical, substantially T- shaped guides 8 on the side walls 7. Mounted for substantially universal adjustment on the base 5 between the side walls 7 thereof is a cradle 9 of arcuate cross section for the reception of a baby bottle 10, said bottle including a base or bottom head or flange 11. The cradle 9 includes an end clamp 12 comprising, in the embodiment shown, a disc 13 provided with peripheral resilient fingers or clips 14 engageable with the bead 11 for releasably securing the bottle 10 in position in said cradle. The cradle 9 still further includes depending side flanges 15 which are bent and folded upon themselves in a manner to provide longitudinal guides 16, the purpose of which will be presently set forth.
The cradle 9 is mounted for longitudinal sliding, ver tical sliding and rocking adjustment and frictionally secured in adjusted position on the base 5 through the medium of brackets of metal or other suitable material which are designated generally by reference character 17. The brackets 17 comprise substantially -C-shaped outwardly facing clips 18 which are slidably mounted on the guides 8. The brackets 17 further comprise substan tially C-shaped inwardly facing clips 19 which are pivotally secured as at 20, on the clips 18 and'in which the guides 16 are slidable.
It is thought that the operation or use of the holder will be readily apparent from a consideration of the foregoing. Briefly, the bottle 10 is placed in the cradle 9 and secured by the clamp 12. The device is then positioned in a crib, for instance, and secured through the medium of suitable spring clamps 21 which are provided on the side walls 7 for this purpose. The bottle may be rockably adjusted as desired by swinging the cradle 9 on the pivots 20 of the mounting brackets 17. The cradle 9 with the bottle 10 therein may be vertically adjusted on the base 5 by sliding the brackets 17 upwardly or downwardly on the guides 8. Then, longitudinal adjustment of the cradle 9 and the bottle 10 may be readily accomplished by sliding the guides 16 forwardly or rearwardly in the clips 19 of the mounting brackets 17. The construction and arrangement of parts is such as to frictionally secure the various adjustments. The cradle 9 may be of any suitable length to accommodate bottles of various lengths. In Figures 1 and 4 of the drawing, reference character 22 designates a crib cover.
The foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed as new is as follows:
1. A baby bottle holder comprising an upwardly opening substantially semi-cylindrical cradle in which to support the bottle, means carried by said cradle for securing the bottle in said cradle, a pair of parallel guides at the side edges of said cradle, a base having a pair of side walls, said cradle being located between said side walls, upstanding guides in said side walls, means connecting the guides on said cradle to the guides on said side walls, said connecting means comprising for each pair of said guides an inner clip and an outer clip, means pivotally connecting said inner and outer clips, said inner clip consisting of a first channel and said outer clip consisting of a second channel, said first channel being slidably disposed on one of the guides of said cradle and said clip being slidably disposed on the guide of one of said side walls whereby said cradle is capable of being adjusted forwardly, rearwardly, upwardly, downwardly and pivotally about the pins which pivotally connect said first and second clips.
2. A baby bottle holder comprising an upwardly opening substantially serni-cylindrical cradle in which to support the bottle, means carried by said cradle for securing the bottle in said cradle, a pair of parallel guides at the side edges of said cradle, a base having a pair of side walls, said cradle being located between said side walls, upstanding guides in said side walls, means connecting guides an inner clip and an outer clip, means pivotally connecting said inner and outer clips, said inner clip consisting of a first channel and said outer clip consisting of a second channel, said first channel being slidably disposed on one of the guides of said cradle and said clip being slidably, disposed on the guide of one of said side walls whereby said cradle is capable of being adjusted forwardly, rearwardly, upwardly,- downwardly and pivotally about the pins which pivotally connect said first and second clips,
the guides on said side walls,
and at least one clamp secured to said base for attaching s 4 said base to a support to hold the baby bottle holder in a bottle nursingp'os'ition.
