3 Claims. (Cl. 210-6) This invention relates to septic tanks for individual household use and particularly of the precast concrete type, and in particular, a septic tank having gradually diverging walls extended from a base upwardly and in which inlet and outlet Ts are positioned in extensions on the walls at the inlet and outlet ends of the tank, thereby making it possible to remove the form from the interior of the tank as `a unit.
The septic tank of this invention also includes a thin knock-out wall of cement extended around an inlet T making it possible to make a connection to a house sewer in a straight line regardless of the position of the tank in relatio-n to the house.
The purpose of this invention is to provide means for forming a precast concrete septic tank whereby 4a plurality of tanks may be cast from the same form.
With septic tanks of conventional design, the inlet and outlet Ts are positioned inside of the tank and connections are made through end walls of the tank. With the Ts cast integral with the tank and positioned on the inside, it is impossible to remove the form without dis mantling the form. Furthermore, with the conventional type of construction wherein the T is positioned on the inside of the tank, it is diiicult to increase the size of the T. With these thoughts in mind, this invention contemplates a precast concrete septic tank in which the entire interior of the tank is open so that the inner form may readily be removed without dismantling, Iand also with the Ts positioned on the outside, so that the conventional 4 Ts may be increased to 7 whereby the possibility of stoppage in the Ts is obviated.
The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide means for forming a precast concrete septic tank whereby a plurality of tanks may be cast from a single form.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for mounting yan inlet T in a septic tank of the precast type whereby the inlet T is adapted to be connected to the house sewer in a straight line regardless of the angular relation of the tank to the house.
A further object of the invention is to provide a precast concrete septic tank with inlet and outlet Ts positioned in extensions of the end walls and with a cover thereof formed in sections in which the tank is of a simple and economical construction.
With these and other objects and advantages in View, the invention embodies a septic tank having a base with upwardly extended diverging side and end walls, with extensions or stacks for inlet and outlet Ts extended from the end walls and opening into the interior of the tank through said end walls and a sectional cover adapted to be positioned on the tank with independent cover plates for the inlet Iand outlet T extensions.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description, taken in connection with the drawing, wherein:

Referring now to the drawing, wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts, the improved septic tank of this invention includes a rectangular shaped base 1t) having end walls 11 and 12, side walls 13 and 14 the lower ends of which are connected to the base with inclined sections 15 and 16, respectively, extensions 17 and 18 projecting from the end walls 11 and 12, respectively, cover plates 19 and 20 positioned on the extensions and a cover including sections 21, 22 and 23 positioned on the upper end of the tank.
The extension 17, at the inlet end of the tank, provides an inner chamber 24 and the lower end of the chamber is in communication with the interior of the septic tank through an opening 25 in the end wall 11. The thin wall of the extension 17 may be provided with an opening 26 for the conventional inlet T and it will be understood that the opening 26 may be formed at any suitable point whereby the house sewer may be connected in a straight line regardless of the position of the tank.
The upper edge of the end wall 11 is provided with a notch 27 providing a vent to the stack and a similar notch, as indicated by the numeral 28, is provided in the upper edge of the end wall 12.
The notch 28 provides means for venting the main tank to the seepage or drain field through an outlet T that may be positioned in an opening 29 in the outer wall of the extension 18. The extension 18 is provided with an inner chamber or stack, as indicated by the numeral 3d, and the lower end of the chamber communicates with the interior of the tank through an opening 31 in the end wall 12.
With a knock-out band provided by the thin wall of the extension 18 for the outlet T positioned at the water line, the T will take the place of the conventional distributor box which takes the several lines of drain tile to the seepage field.
Also, placing the inlet and outlet Ts on the outside of the tank makes it possible to provide separate covers for the inlet and outlet connections facilitating cleaning and with the Ts placed on the outside it is also possible to increase the size of the conventional 4" Ts to 7" or the like whereby the possibility of stoppage in the Ts is obviated.
It will be understood that modifications, within the scope of the appended claims, may be made in the design and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
l. A precast concrete septic tank comprising a rectangular shaped base having outwardly inclined sections extended upwardly from the longitudinal edges thereof and with diverging side walls extended upwardly from the longitudinal edges of the inclined sections and diverging end walls extended upwardly from the transverse edges of the base, the end walls having stacks for inlet and outlet Ts extended therefrom and said stacks opening into the interior of the tank at points substantially midway of the height of said tank, the upper edges of said end walls ha ing notches providing vents between the stacks and the interior of the tank, a sectional cover on the upper end of the tank and cover plates on the inlet and outlet stacks.

In a precast concrete septic tank, the combination which comprises a base'having outwardly inclined sections extended upwardly from the longitudinal edges thereof land having diverging side walls extended upwardly from the longiutdinal edges of the inclined sections and diverging end walls extended upwardly from the transverse edges of the base with extensions for inlet and outlet Ts extended outwardly from said end walls and opening into the interior of the tank through the endy Walls at points substantially midway of the height of the tank, the upper edges of said end walls having notches providing vents between. the stacks and interi'o of the tank, fa sectional cover on the tank and cover plates on saidinlet an'd outlet'. connecting extensions.

Claims (1)
1. A PRECAST CONCENTRATE SEPTIC TANK COMPRISING A RECTANGULAR SHAPED BASE HAVING OUTWARDLY INCLINED SECTIONS EXTENDED UPWARDLY FROM THE LONGITUDINAL EDGES THEREOF AND WITH DIVERGING SIDE WALLS EXTENDED UPWARDLY FROM THE LONGITUDINAL EDGES OF THE INCLINED SECTIONS AND DIVERGING END WALLS EXTENDED UPWARDLY FROM THE TRANSVERSER EDGES OF THE BASE, THE END WALLS HAVING STACKS FOR INLET AND OUTLET T''S EXTENDED THEREFROM AND SAID STACKS OPENING INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE TANK AT POINTS SUBSTANTIALLY MIDWAY OF THE HEIGHT OF SAID TANK, THE UPPER EDGES OF SAID END WALLS HAVING NOTCHES PROVIDING VENTS BETWEEN THE STACKS AND THE INTERIOR OF THE TANK, A SECTIONAL COVER ON THE UPPER END OF THE TANK AND COVER PLATES ON THE INLET AN OUTLET STACKS.
