BERNARD PETOHAFT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR, BY DIREOT AND MESNE ASSIGNMENTS, TO ABRAH AM SHENFIELD, OF SAME PLACE.
SUSPENDERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent N0. 277,776, dated May 15, 1883.
7 Application filed November 2, 1882. (Model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be itknown that 1, BERNARD PETCHAFT, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Suspenders, of which the followingis a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to improvements in suspenders; and it consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of the parts, as hereinafter more fully set forth, and pointed out in the claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawingsfl'orming partof this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures;
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a pair of suspenders made in accordance with my invention; and Fig. 2 shows a modified form of one of the front buckles, a suspenderstrap, and suspender-ends.
- The suspender-straps A A (see Fig. 1) are of the usual form, and are joined together at the back, and provided with the buckle d, to which the suspender-ends B, made in separate pieces joined together by an eyelet, a, are secured by the tongue of the buckle d, passing through the eyelet a. The front buckles, O U, consist each of an upper buckle-frame,f, provided with a cross-bar, and tongues adapted to be inserted in the suspender-strap A in the ordinary man ner, and a lower buckle-frame,
f, joined to the upper frame,f, by the parallel connecting-barsff, thus forming a double buckle-frame, made in one piece, or integral with each other. The tongue of the lower buckle-frame,f, is adapted to engage in an eyelet, a, whichsecures together the suspenden ends B, each made in a separate piece.
Fig. 2 shows amodification of the front double buckle-frame, in which the connecting- 4o,
barsf are dispensed with, and the tongue of the lower buckle-frame is hinged to the lower set forth.
