1 Claim. (Cl. 160-349) The present invention relates to curtain fixtures, and pertains more particularly to a pair of curtain tie-back supports for mounting one on each of the exterior sides of a window frame.

An object of the present invention is to provide an improved curtain tie-back support.

Another object is to provide a curtain tie-back support which will support a tie-back in offset relation to a window'frame on which it is mounted, to hold a curtain about which the tie-back is looped inwardly clear of interference with the lower corners of a window shade or Venetian blind when raising or lowering the latter.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved support for a curtain tie-back with means for securing the ends of the tie-back.

Briefly, the invention consists of a pair of curtain tieback supports one of which is attached to each of the laterally outward sides of a window frame in such a position that the support will protrude into the room at right angles to the wall in which the window is mounted, and at a desired height on the window frame.

These and other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description and the accompanying drawings, wherein Fig. 1 is an elevational view showing the laterally outward side of one of the curtain tie-back supports embodying the present invention, a window frame side member to which it is attached being shown in broken lines.

Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken along line 22 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 3 is an end elevational view of Fig. 1 taken from the outer end of the device.

Fig. 4 is a perspective view in reduced scale showing one side of a window with the device shown in Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive in use thereon.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the tie-back support A embodying the invention is made of suitable material such as plastic sheet material of adequate strength. The support A comprises a flat portion 10, which, as illustrated, is in the form of a trapezoid. It will be understood, however, that the shape andii size of the device may be such as is best suited to the various types of curtains, blinds and tie-backs with which it is used. A pair of holes 11 are provided in the portion adjacent the short side 12 thereof to receive nails or screws 13 (broken lines Fig. 1) for mounting the device A on the outer side of a window frame casing member 14.

A pair of reversely bent side flanges 15 and 16 are formed integrally along the non-parallel edges of the portion 10.

The side flanges 15 and 16 assist in retaining the tie back 20 (Fig. 4) against slipping .outwardly beyond the limits of the tie-back support A, and also prevent the tie-back from dropping downwardly off the support entirely.

A tie-back engaging hook 18 may be severed from the material of the portion 10 itself, and is formed, as shown particularly in Fig. 2, to engage a ring or loop 19 (Fig. 4) which customarily is provided on a conventional curtain tie-back.

Since the tie-back themselves and the manner of making them are well known, it will be unnecessary to explain them herein. However, the term tie-back as used herein refers to a loop 20 of the general type shown in Fig. 4, and not to the pins or fixtures (not shown) which also are sometimes referred to by this name.

While I have illustrated and described a preferred embodiment of the present invention, it will be understood however, that various changes and modifications may be made in the details thereof without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claim.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is defined in the following claim.

I claim:

A curtain tie-back and offsetting device comprising a single generally flat plate having forwardly flaring straight upper and lower side edges each inwardly curled over the front surface of the plate throughout the full length of the edge between a relatively short rear end and a relatively long front end and a hook integral with the plate and accessible from the front surface of the plate and located midway between said side edges adjacent said relatively short rear end, the back surface of the plate adjacent the rear end being adapted to be fixedly engaged with the side surface of a window frame member so that the forward portion of the plate will project beyond the front surface of the frame member, whereby the terminal ring of a tie-back may be engaged with said hook with the adjacent portion of the tie-back re tained beneath the curled edges of the plate and the remote portions of the tie-back being looped around a curtain and held spaced outwardly from the window frame member by the relatively long front end of the plate.
