BILLFOLD Filed Aug. 20, 1954 '1' F/GJ INVENTOR. paw o Gou srE/n WWW/K it is among the objects of my invention to provide a billfold which is simple and inexpensive.

It is the further object of my invention to provide a billfold which has no attached portions or stitching.

It is another object of my invention to provide a billfold which may be readily used for inexpensive adverusing.

it is yet a further object of my invention to provide a billfold which is of a very small size.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a billfold which keeps the bills safe and secure.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a billfold into which it is easy to insert money or from which it is easy to withdraw money without necessarily exposing the entire contents.

These objects and advantages as well as other objects and advantages may be achieved from the device illustrated in the drawings in which:

Figure 1 is a view in perspective of a billfold, unfolded, embodying my invention;

Figure 2 is a similar view with the side flaps folded over;

Figure 3 is a top plan view with one end flap folded over; and

Figure 4 is a top plan view with both end flaps folded over.

Referring to the drawings in detail, my billfold consists of a single sheet 11 of material having a rectangular portion constituting a back 12 and foldable flaps 13, 14, 15, 16 on each of the four sides. No one of the flaps is larger than the back portion 12.

The back 1?. portion is rectangular in form and slightly longer than one-half the length of the bill of currency with which it is intended to be used. On the right side and on the left side of the back 12, there are side portions, flaps 13 and 14 foldable over the back. Each of these side flaps 13, 14 is narrower than one-half the width of the back 12. These right 13 and left 14 side portions may be folded over the back portion 12 but they Will not meet together. There is also a right end portion or flap 15 whose length is less than the back 12. This flap 15 may be folded over the right 13 and left 14 side portions or flaps. Finally there is a left end portion or flap 16 of States Patent a length less than the back whereby ends of the bills 17 disposed in the bill fold are left open to view. The billfold may be made of leather, plastic sheeting, cardboard, or some other suitable material.

The use of my billfold is as follows:

With all of the flaps 13, 14, 15, 16 folded away from and disposed in non-overlapping relationship with reference to the back 12, the bills 17 are disposed on the back with their right end edges in substantial alignment with the right end edge of the back 12. Then the right 13 and left 14 side flaps are folded over the bills and the right end. portion or flap 15 is folded over the right 13 and left 14 side flaps. Finally the left end portion or flap 16 is folded over the right end portion or flap 15. By reason of the stitchless construction, varying amounts of hills may be includedv within the billfold and it will expand or contract to accommodate them. Since the ends of the bills are visible, although they are contained in the billfold, they are always in view and .it is easy to see the number of bills and the denominations without having to open the billfold or remove the bills. Since this billfold is extremely compact in form, its bulk is reduced to the lowest size consistent with practicality. Withdrawal of the bills is extremely simple for it is only necessary to seize the end of a bill which is exposed and pull it from the billfold. The remaining bills are undisturbed and remain in place.

The foregoing description is intended merely to be illustrative of one embodiment of my invention. Many changes may be made with the construction, selection and arrangement of the various parts, all within the scope of the appended claim without departing from the spirit of the invention.

I claim:

A billfold comprising a thin sheet defining a rectangular back portion slightly greater in length than one-half the length of the bill to be contained in the billfold, integral top and bottom flaps on the sides of the back portion commencing at fold lines, said flaps having a combined width less than the width of the back portion and being foldable over the back-portion in non-overlapping relation to each other, integral right and left end-flaps formed on the ends of the back having a combined length greater than the length of the back portion and commencing at fold lines and foldable over the back in overlapping relation with each other, and said left end flap being of somewhat lesser length than the back, whereby the end of the bill thereunder is exposed.
