2 Claims. (Cl. 5-335) This invention relates to sheets and more particularly t contour sheets.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a two way sheet or combination plain and contour sheet.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a sheet of the above type which may be either used as a plain sheet in the conventional manner or as a contour sheet, as desired.
It is still another object of the presentinvention to provide a sheet of the above type which includes removable and releasable means for tightening the sheet to the contour of the mattress, for keeping the sheet wrinkle proof and for preventing the sheet from sliding on the mattress.
lt is still another object of the present invention to providea sheet of the above type which is adjustable to mattresses of varying sizes and thicknesses.
lt is still another object of the present invention to provide a sheet of the above type wherein the means for tightening the sheet to the contour of the mattress are themselves adjustable for mattresses of varying sizes and thicknesses.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a sheet bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, is inexpensive to manufacture, is easy to use and efficient in operation.
For further comprehension of the invention and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawings forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. l is a top plan view of a sheet embodying the features of the present invention, the sheet being shown suspended above a mattress in a flat position.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of another of the parts of j the invention, shown alone.

Referring now more in detail to the drawing, in which similar reference numerals identify corresponding parts throughout the several views, there is shown in Figs. l-3 a combination plain and contour sheet, referred to collectively as 10, and including a sheet 11 adapted to cover the top, sides and ends of mattress 12, substantially as illustrated.
The edges of sheet 11 are provided with a reinforced boundary 13 secured in place by stitching 14.
Loops15are spaced along the edges of sheet 11 in the manner shown in Fig. 1, these loops being secured in place by strips 16 secured to boundary 13 by stitching 17. It vwill be noted that these loops are provided in pairs for a purpose which will hereinafter become clear.
The sheet 10 may be used as a plain or conventional sheet in the usual manner. It may, however, also be used as a contour sheet by first folding the opposite ends of sheet 10 under the ends of mattress 12, as shown in Fig. 3, whereupon the longitudinal sides of sheet 10 are then tucked under, over the end portions thereof. This brings the loops 15 into adjacency in the manner shown in dotted outline in Fig. 3.
Adjustable straps 18 are provided for connecting the adjacent loops 15, these straps consisting of fabric strips y15, as will be obvious.
One hook 21 of strap 18 is secured to one of the loops `carried by the longitudinal sides of sheet 10 while the other hook 21 of strap 18 is releasably secured to one of the loops carried by the ends of sheet 10, one such strap being thus positioned across each corner of the bottom face of mattress 12, as shown in Fig. 3. Thus the sheet 10 is tightened to the contour of the mattress 12, the sheet 10 is prevented from sliding on the mattress and is rendered substantially wrinkle-proof. By removing the straps 18 from the aforesaid positions, the sheet 10 is adapted to be used as a plain or conventional sheet.
The loops 15 are provided in pairs, permitting the sheet 10 to be adjusted for differently sized mattresses 12. The straps 18 are also adjustable in length for differing sizes of mattress 12, as will be obvious.
Thus there have been provided removable, releasable means for securing the sheet 10 in place as a contour sheet, these means being in turn adjustable for different sized mattresses, and being readily removable permitting the use of the sheet in the conventional or plain manner.
Referring now particularly to Figs. 4 and 5, there is shown a modified form of the invention, referred to collectively as 10a, and differing from the first form of the invention in the replacement of the loops 15 and straps like reference numerals identify like parts throughout the several views.
Referring now particularly to Figs. 7 and 8, there is `shown a still further modified form of the present invention, referred to collectively as 10b, and differing from the first form in the replacement of the loops 15 and straps 18 by snap fastening elements, substantially as illus- I snap fastening 4elements -25 adaptedtcrreleasablyeengage complementary snap fastening elements 26 provided on the underside of side strips 13 .when the sheet is, in the positionv of"`FigL 8, thussecuringthe' corners of the Snap fastening' elements27V are provided. adjacent the elements 25 whilesnap .fastening .elementsZS are provided 'adjacent' theV 'elements 26 but on the; upper. side. lThese ve,leinent's27'and28are relea'sably connectedN by means of tie.st raps 29, .as shown in Fig. 8, thus securing. the sides and ends of sheet'lbiabout the contouri of the mattress in tight engagement.
Each tie strap29 consists of ,a strip30 of fabric carrying a snapV fastening .elementi31 ateach end adapted to engage the snap fastening elements27. and 28, as will be obvious.
"The sheet`llb has the advantage over the sheetslll a'nd a. in that the tiestraps 29 may` be removed,.rendering the sheet 10b 'substantially identical in appearance with a plain sheet, when it is desired to use the sheet 1|]b in this manner.
.In vother r espects;,.the.f orm' of the invention, shown in Figs. 7 and 8 is identical with that shown in .Figs 1-3 andlike reference numerals identify.corr esponding parts throughout the. several views.
Referring now particularly to Figs. 9 and 10; there is shown a still further modified form ofthe present invention, referred to collectively as 32, .and including a sheet 33, substantially as' illustrated.
The sheet'33 is provided at each cornerwith elongated cut-outs 34defining end portions 35 and Aside portions 36.
