(Cl. 155-35) This invention relates to a sanitary shoe fitting stool and has for an object to provide an improved sanitary shoe fitting stool particularly intended for use in shoe stores for providing a seat for the salesman, and at the same time, providing a sanitary inclined shoe fitting stand thereon, wherein the stand has means for guiding and supporting a replaceable paper sheet bearing shoe size graduations, such sheet forming part of a continuous supply roll of paper and a take up roll provided with a crank so that the salesman may feed a new portion of the paper roll to the inclined foot fitting stand thereof for each new customer.

A further object of this invention is to provide a sanitary shoe fitting stool which is inexpensive to manufacture, and hence, may be sold at a low cost, thereby encouraging its use in providing sanitary foot fitting means for each customer.

An important feature of this invention is the time saving element involved for the man on the fitting stool who is selling the shoes, for he has right before his eyes, the measuring device which indicates at a glance the exact size required, thus eliminating the loss of time in getting a measuring stick or device, and placing the foot on it at a proper angle to obtan the size required.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, this in vention comprises the combination, construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth, claimed and disclosed in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

There is shown at the sanitary shoe fitting stool of this invention. This stool 10 includes a pair of spaced apart supporting standards 11 each of which may consist of a wire rod, which has been folded to provide a horizontally extending top portion 12, a forwardly inclined stand supporting portion 14, a horizontally extending bottom supporting portion 15, which is parallel to the top portion 12, and a rear connecting portion 16 extending from the rear of the bottom portion to the rear of the top portion 12.

A plate member 17 is supported on these spaced apart standards 11 and is provided with depending flanges 18 extending over the sides of the standards 11 about half way down between the top portion 12 and the bottom portion 11. Also extending from the plate member 17 is an inclined portion 20 supported on the forwardly inclined supporting portions 14 of the standards 11, this plate 20 having adjacent its own end an upwardly extending heel abutting portion 21 extending transversely thereacross, but somewhat curvilinear, as shown.

This inclined portion 20 is provided with a rectangular opening 22 and extending downwardly from the inclined sides of the opening 22 are depending flanges 23 supporting a small rectangular plate 24 therebetween, the transverse ends of the plate 24 being spaced slightly from the ends of the rectangular opening 22 to thus provide a transverse slot 25 adjacent the heel abutting portion 21 and an upper transverse slot 26. Journaled between suitable depending abutments 27 adjacent each slot 25 and 26 is a small roller 28.

Journaled between the seat depending flanges 18 are a pair of reel supporting rolls 30 and 31, the roll 30 supporting a supply reel 32 of paper having a plurality of successive foot size graduations thereon, while the roll ICC 31 provided with a take up crank handle 32 on the outside thereof provides a take up reel for manipulation by the salesman.

In operation, the paper 33 bearing suitable foot size graduations is led from the supply reel 32 of paper on the roll 30 over the upper roller 28 through the slot 26 down over the plate 24 through the slot 25 about the lower roller 28 and again over the upper roller 28 beneath the web thereover to the take up roll 31 operated by the crank handle 32. Inasmuch as the surface of the paper contacted by the foot at 33 in Fig. 2 will be opposite the new supply as it is led over this upper roller 28, it will not affect the sanitation of the new thread of graduations being fed to the inclined stand portion.

In operation, the salesman will operate the take up crank handle 32 between each customer, so as to provide a new sanitary shoe fitting surface for each new customer. When the supply roll has been finished, a new supply roll may be placed onthe roll 30 in an obvious manner and threaded through as above described.

While the device has been shown and the structure described in detail, it is obvious that this invention is not to be considered as being limited to the exact form disclosed, and that changes in detail and constructon may be made therewithin within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of this invention.

Having thus set forth and disclosed the nature of this invention, what is claimed is:

A sanitary shoe fitting stool comprising a pair of spaced apart supporting standards each consisting of a wire rod providing a top seat supporting portion, a forwardly inclined shoe stand supporting portion, a bottom supporting portion parallel to said top seat supporting portion, and a rear portion connecting said top and bottom portions, a plate member extending over the said top portion of said standards and having anges depending downwardly a substantial distance toward the said bottom portion of said standards, a seat member supported on said top plate member portion, said plate member also extending over and supported on said forwardly inclined shoe stand supporting portion of said standards and having a heel abutting upstanding portion at the lower end thereof, said plate member having a transversely extending slot adjacent said heel abutting portion and a second transversely extending slot adjacent the upper end of said inclined portion, said slots being provided by a rectangular opening in said inclined portion, a depending flange along the inclined sides of said rectangular opening, and a plate supported by said latter depending flanges and having its transverse ends spaced from the transverse ends of said rectangular opening, a roller journaled to the bottom of said inclined plate member portion adjacent each slot, a pair of spaced apart paper roll supporting rollers journaled through said depending anges beneath said seat plate member portion, a paper roll rotating take up crank handle on one of said paper roll supporting rollers, whereby a paper sheet containing foot size graduations may be threaded from a supply roll on one of said seat ange supported rollers about one of said inclined stand supported rolls through its adjacent slot over said inclined stand to said other slot and its adjacent roll to said other depending flange supported roller by operating said crank handle on said last mentioned roller.
