Description
M. M. ORR
' BREAST PA'D Dec. 21, 1954 Filed May l8 1951 I Madge M- Orlj BY @ZUQWMIM Vdon.
CIRNEY- United States Patent BREAST PAD Madge M. Orr, Miami, Fla., assignor of one-third to Lena mgman, Washington, D. C., and one-third to Clair S. Orr, Miami, Fla.
Application May 18, 1951, Serial No. 227,065 2 Claims. (Cl. 2-267) The invention relates to breast pads. Applicant has discovered that a breast pad in order to perform its of a shrunken edge at the top thereof, the pad including a rear cavity of approximately semi-conical shape for reception of the upper half of the breast.
he invention consists in the novel construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating the invention,
Figure 1 is a front elevation of my breast pad.
Figure 2 is a rear elevation of the same.
Figure 3 is a bottom plan view of the same.
Figure 4 is a top plan view of the same.
Figure 5 is a side elevation of the same.
Figure 6 is a section on the line 66, Figure 1.
In the drawings, 1 designates the breast pad for padding the upper half only of the breast the muscles of which have become shrunken, into normal fullness, said pad having rounded top and lateral edges 2 and a horizontally directed lower edge 3 defining approximately the major segment of a circle, said pad being in plan view of approximately the shape of a flattened cone and in side view of approximately the shape of a steep walled cone. The pad is of the shape of a wedge 4 in vertical section, the thickness of which wedge gradually diminishes upwardly to a thin edge 5 at the top thereof, the pad having a front surface 6 which is slightly rounded in a vertical direction and horizontal direction, the extreme lower portion of said front surface 6 being convexly rounded at 7 in a rearward direction. The rear surface 8 of the pad is approxiapproximately conical in a mately straight in a vertical direction and approximately conical in a horizontal direction, said front and rear surfaces 7 and 8 converging upwardly and intersecting at the top of the pad. The pad includes a rear cavity 9 which is approximately semi-conical for the reception of the upper half of the shrunken breast.
he pad, in order to perform its function of padding the upper half only of a shrunken breast to normal fullness, must have rounded top and lateral edges and a horizontally directed lower edge defining approximately the major segment of a circle; it must be of the shape of a wedge in vertical section, the thickness of which wedge gradually diminishes upwardly to a thin edge at the top thereof, and it must include a rear cavity of apfor the reception of the upper half only of the shrunken breast. These features are essential. The pad being made preferably of light resilient material, such for example as foam rubber, is not adapted to be incorporated or stitched into a brassiere, due to its material and its bulk, but it is adapted to be1 used with a brassiere, as breast pads usually are.
0 arm:
segment of a circle, the pad being of the shape of a wedge in vertical section, the thickness of which wedge gradually diminishes upwardly to a thin edge at the top thereof, the pad including a rear cavity of approximately semi-conical shape for reception of the upper half of the breast.
2. A breast pad for padding the upper half only of a shrunken sagging breast to normal fullness, the pad having rounded top and lateral edges and a horizontally directed lower edge defining approximately the major segment of a circle, the pad being of approximately the shape of a flattened cone in plan view and of a steep walled cone in side view and of the shape of a wedge in vertical section, the thickness of which Wedge gradually diminishes upwardly to a thin edge at the top thereof, the pad having a front surface which is slightly rounded in a vertical direction and approximately conical in a horizontal direction, the extreme lower portion of said front surface being convexly rounded in a rearward direction, the pad having a rear surface which is approximately straight in a vertical direction and approximately conical in a horizontal direction, said front and rear surfaces converging upwardly to and intersecting at the top of the pad, the pad including a rear cavity of approximately semi-conical shape for the reception of the upper half of the breast.
