(Cl. 21B-'6) Y'This invention relates to .mechanical devices for coating wall-paper withpaste .and applying the wall-paper to .a wall, ceiling, or the like, and in particular an elongatedpaste receptacle having a roller ,journal therein, with wall-paper roll supporting brackets and a 'handle extended from one side and with wall-paper applying rollers extended from the opposite side.
The purpose of this vinvention vis to eliminate the necessity of applying Vpaste to along strip of wall paper and hanging the paper with the paste thereon on a wall.
Various types of mechanical deviceshave been provided for applying paste to wall-paper and for rolling the wall-paper on the wall but these devices are difficult to 'handle with one 'hand and as itis necessary to use a scaioldor ladder in hanging wall-paper mechanical devices of this type are not used. With this thought in mind this invention contemplates a device for hanging wall-paper that is held in one hand and used like a paint brush whereby the wall-paper isstarted at the upper .end of a wall and a continuous strip is rolled on the wall from vthe ceiling to the floor.
The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide means forforming a hanger for wallpaper and the like in which continuous strips of paper are fed from a roll, coated with paste and applied directly to the Wall.
Another object of the invention is -to provide a wall-paper hanger in which wall-paper yfed from a roll is coated with paste and applied to the corner of a room.
A further object of the invention is to provide a wall-paper hanger with which wall-paper is fed from a roll and applied in continuous strips to the surface of a wall, ceiling or 'the like, which is of a comparatively simple and economical construction.
With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention embodies `an elongated .receptacle, openat the upper .end fand having-a paste supplying roller journaled therein with a rod positioned in notches in the upper edge for holding wall-paper against the roller, with means for supporting a roll of wall-paper at one side and with paper applying rollers suspended by adjustable brackets from the opposite side.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawings wherein:

Referring now to the drawings wherein like reference .characters denote corresponding parts the improved 4wall-,paper hanger of this invention rincludes an .elongated receptacle ill with a paste applying roller I.I .positioned therein, brackets |12 and .lf3 for supporting the roll of paper I; at one side ofthe receptacle, .a rod AI5 for holding the paper against the surface of the roller II, .-and sockets I-'E and I'I in which paper applying rollers ITB and I9 are supported by L- shaped brackets L20 and 2l.

The wall 23 is provided with a rolled upper edge 26 and a iront wall 22, the upper edge of which 'is spaced from the upper edge of the receptacle, is provided with alipfZi'i over which the paper 2e slides as it passes from the roll Il to the roller Il.
.The roller I,I, which is provided with a covering 29 .of material suitable for applying the paste to thepaper, is mounted on a shaflJ 30, the ends of which extend into slots 3l and 32 in bearing blocks .33 and ,311i on the inner surfaces of the walls 2li and 2: of the receptacle.
The-upper edge o'f theend wall 21! is provided with an opening .35 through which one end of the rod I5 extends and the opposite end is positioned in a notch 36 which is provided in the end wall 25, whereby one end of the rod l5 may be withdrawn to facilitate threading the web of the wall-paper through the applicator. The ends of the rod I5 are provided with heads 3l and 38 for holding the rod in operative position.
The bracket I2 is provided with an opening 39 in which one end of a rod 40 on which the wall-paper roll lli is positioned is held and the bracket I3 at the opposite end is provided with an open notch 4|, as illustrated in Figure 3, whereby one end of the rod 40 is removable so 3 that the roll of paper may be replaced. The rod 40 is also provided with collars or heads 42 and 43.
A handle 44 by which the device may be held is attached to the front wall 22 by rivets 45 that extend through a flange 4B.
The sockets I6 and I1 are provided with slots 41 and 48 and pins 49 and 50 on the vertically disposed legs of the L-shaped brackets 2U and 2|, respectively drop into the slots 41 and 48 when it is desired to hold the rollers I8 and I9 in extended positions for rolling wall-paper in a corner of a room. The pins 49 and 50 are positioned at angles of 45 degrees in relation to the slots 41 and 48 with the rollers in the position shown in full lines in Figure 2, and with the brackets turned through angles of 45 degrees the pins Will drop into the slots and hold the rollers extended in the positions indicated by the dot and dash lines and 52. The rods 2|! and 2| prevent the rollers from swaying and serve to lock the parts in their proper positions. The slots 41 and 48 receive the pins 49 and 50 so as to hold the rod on the casing and permit the present invention to be used on corners,
The horizontally disposed arms of the brackets 20 and 2|, as indicated by the numerals 53 and 54 extend into sleeves 55 and 5B, respectively, on which the rollers I8 and I9 are mounted and the ends of the sleeves are connected, at the center of the receptacle with a swivel connection 51 as shown in Figure 2. The swivel connection is provided with a thumb nut 58 by which the brackets may be clamped in the position shown in full lines in Figure 2 or in the position indicated by the dot and dash lines.
With the parts arranged in this manner a roll of wall-paper is placed upon the rod 40 with the end of the paper threaded through the hanger, passing under the rod |5, over the paste applying roller II and under the paper applying rollers I8 and I9. With the under surface of the paper covered with paste the rollers |8 and I9 roll the paper directly upon a wall, ceiling, or the like. With the device held in one hand the paper is evenly and quickly applied to the wall.
It will be understood that modifications may be made in the design and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
l. A wall-paper hanger comprising an clongated receptacle open at the top, a paste applying roller having its ends journaled in said receptacle, means for supporting a roll of paper on one side of the receptacle, means for holding paper from the roll in contact with the paste applying roller, an adjustable mounting bracket rotatably mounted on the ends of said receptacle, means connecting the ends of the bracket for retaining them in fixed relation to each other,

In a wall-paper hanger, the combination which comprises an elongated rectangular shaped box-like receptacle having a base with front, rear and end Walls extended upwardly therefrom and with the upper edge of the front wall spaced from the upper edge of the receptacle, bearing blocks with sockets having angularly extended ends in the inner surfaces thereof positioned on the inner surfaces of the end walls of the receptacle, a shaft carried by the said bearing blocks with the ends extended into the said sockets, a roller having a paste applying covering mounted on the said shaft, brackets extended from the end walls of-the said receptacle and positioned on the side thereof on which the said front wall is positioned, the extended ends of the brackets having sockets therein, a rod for carrying a roll of wall-paper positioned in the sockets of the brackets, the upper edges of the end walls of the receptacle having sockets therein, a rod positioned in the sockets in the upper edges of the end walls of the receptacle for urging paper passing through the hanger in contact with the paste applying covering of the roller in the receptacle, inclined sockets mounted on the ends of the receptacle, a plurality of L-shaped brackets positioned in the said inclined sockets and extended upwardly and rearwardly from the said receptacle, and rollers journaled on the said brackets.
3. In a wall-paper hanger, the combination which comprises an elongated rectangular shaped box-like receptacle, bearing blocks with sockets having angularly extended ends in the inner surfaces thereof positioned on the receptacle, a shaft carried by the said bearing blocks with the ends extended into the said sockets, a roller having a paste applying covering mounted on the said shaft, brackets extended from the said receptacle and positioned on the side thereof, the extended ends of the brackets having sockets therein, a rod for carrying a roll of wall-paper positioned in the sockets of the brackets, the receptacle having sockets thereon, a rod positioned in the sockets for urging paper passing through the hanger in Contact with the paste applying covering of the roller in the receptacle, inclined sockets mounted on the receptacle, a plurality of L-shaped brackets positioned in the said inclined sockets and extended upwardly and rearwardly from the said receptacle, and rollers journaled on the said brackets.
