Apiicstion september 12, 1'9\51,-l`ser.ia1N0524622 1 This invention--apperta'ins to-*impro'vements in walletsand especially relates to a novel .secre- The primary object of this invention is 'to provide a compact combination secretary type wallet and coin purse, which can be conveniently carried in the inner pocket of a mans jacket or suit coat.

A further object of this invention is to provide a durable three piece wallet, including coextensive hingedly connected currency and card sections and a coin purse, which overlies the inner face of one of the sections.

T'hese and ancillary objects and structural features of merit are attained by this invention, the preferred embodiment of which is set forth in the following description and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Fig. 1 is a View in perspective of a wallet, constructed in accordance with this invention, and depicting the same in an open position;

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the wallet, illustrating the same disassembled, with the hinge straps or arms removed from one of the sections;

Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.

Referring now more particularly to the accompanying drawing, the wallet I includes a first section or card and identification section I2. The section I2 is of rectangular shape and consists of two rectangular pieces or blanks of leather or suitable material I4 and I6, the pieces being coextensive in length and width and being stitched at their marginal side and end edges by an in and out stitch I8. The inner side edge 20 of the section I2 is formed with an opening 22, defined by an interruption in the stitching I8 along the side edge.

A rectangular opening 24 is -formed in the blank I6, and a transparent window 28 of suitable plastic material is stitched as at 30 to the under side of the blank I to cover the opening 24. The window 28 is stitched at its ends and at its side opposite the opening 22 to the blank I, so that a pocket is formed in the section I2, communicating with the opening '22 for retaining calling cards and an identification card in anexposed fashion. The window is also stitched to the blank I3 at its ends and sides.

A currency section or second section 32 is provided and is rectangular in shape including a pair of superimposed blanks or pieces of leather 34 and 36 forming the inner or front and outer or back faces of the section. The pieces are stitched together vralong their marginal edges, with'the inner-'ends lland of alpairo'f kvhinge straps A'42 and d4 t'being inserted between the pieces or blanks vatthe outer-side-edgef45 of the section 32 and being stitched by the stitching 4S to the blanks. An elongated slit 48 is formed in the blank 36 and extends longitudinally thereof, adjacent to the inner side edge 5E) of the section 32, and a conventional slide fastener 52 is provided to close the slit, the slit dening an opening in the outer back face of the section 32, so that currency or other paper can be placed in the section 32.

The ends 54 and 53 of the hinge straps are inserted between the pieces I4 and I6 of the section I2 at the outer edge 58 of the section I2 and secured therein by the stitching I8', the arms transversely overlying the inner face 26 of the section I2 above and below the opening 24.

A coin purse is provided and includes a back section 62, which 'is secured by stitching E4 to the blank I6 of the section I2, at the inner side edge 20 of the section. The section 62 of the coin purse transversely overlies the inner face 34 of the section 32 and the opposing side edge of the section 52 is secured by the marginal stitching between the blanks 34 and 33 of the section 32. A front section 61 is provided for the coin purse and is stitched at its Aopposing side edges to the back section 62 and is also stitched at its lower end to the back section 62. The back section E52 is formed at its upper end with a flap 68, which is adapted to close off the opening and which is provided with the female part IU of a snap fastener, the male counterpart 'I2 being formed on the outer face of the front section 31 of the coin purse.

The arms 42 and 44 and back section 62 of the coin purse 60 provide a hinge connecting means between the two sections I2 and 32, the coin purse being secured to the inner side edge of the section I2 and the outer side edge of the section 32 and transversely overlying the section 32, so that the coin purse is disposed between the confronting or inner faces of the two sections, which are adapted to swing about the hinge straps and about the side edge of the back section 62 of the coin purse, which is attached to the section I2.

It will be noted that the back section 62 is not attached to the face 34 of the section 32, which it transversely overlies, so that it can be used as a strap to hold notes, memorandum paper, checks or the like on the face 34. Also, the straps 42 and 44 overlie the front or inner face of the section I 2 in an unattached manner, so that letters, papers or the like can be slipped under the straps and retained thereby on the face of the section I2.

While the preferred embodiment of this invention has been described and illustrated, it is obvious that other modifications may be resorted to, so that limitation is sought only in. accordance with the appended claims.

Having thus described this invention, what is claimed is:

1. A Wallet comprising a first and second section having adjoining inner side edges, means formed on the inner face of the irst section for retaining cards in an exposed fashion, said second section having a. pocket in its outer face for retaining currency, means for closing said pocket, means hingedly connecting said sections together at their inner side edges so that they arer foldable about their inner adjoining side edges 'to bring their inner faces into engagement, and

a coin purse having side edges and transversely overlying in detached relation the inner face of the second section and secured at one of its side edges to the outer side edge of the second section and at its other side edge to the inner side edge of the rst section.

2. The combination of claim 1, wherein said connecting means includes a pair of straps transversely overlying in detached relation the inner face of the first section and secured at their opposing ends to the outer side edge of the rst section and inner side edge of the second section above and below the coin purse.

The combination of claim 1, wherein said first section is formed from superimposed inner and outer blanks, said inner blank having an opening for exposing cards or similar material, a, transparent window covering the opening, and said inner side edge having a slit communicating with the opening.
