Application November 21, 1949", Serial N 6.12%,600'5 ZZCI'aimsi, (CLiZZZQ-QS) This invention relates tdthe class of dispensing devices, and more particularly to a novel dispensing device adapted to. support a collapsible tube and toselectively dis zpensethe.- contents of the tube in an emcient manner.
An object of the inventiongis to provide, a noveldispensing device inwhicha collapsible tube may be readily inserted so as to be readily compressed from time to time to selectively; automatically discharge the contents thereof;
Another object of the invention is to provide simple and efficient means for filling and-refilling a collapsible tube holder. A further object is to provide means in association with a collapsible tube holder for hanging toothbrushes or the like in a sanitary and secure manner.
Yet another object is to provide a rigid and secure holder for a collapsible tube which is provided with means for automatically dispensing the contents of the tube as desired, and which holder may be readily assembled so that it may be cleaned and refilled as desired.
Still further objects reside in the provision of a collapsible tube holder that is strong, durable, highly emcient in operation, simple in construction and manufacture, easily disassembled, capable of being manufactured from a variety of divergent materials, relatively inexpensive, and very pleasing to the eye.
These, together with the various ancillary objects of the invention which will become apparent as the following description proceeds, are attained by this collapsible tube holder, a preferred embodiment of which has been illustrated, by way of example only, in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is an elevational view of the collapsible tube holder comprising the present invention;
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the device as shown in Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view as taken along line 3-3 in Figure 1;
Figure 4 is a side elevational view of the invention;
Figure 5 is a vertical sectional view as taken along line 5-5 in Figure 1; and
Figure 6 is an enlarged sectional detail as taken along line 6-6 in Figure 4.
With continuing reference to the accompanying drawings wherein like reference numerals designate similar parts throughout the various views, reference numeral I0 generally is used to designate the collapsible tube holder comprising the present invention. This invention comprises several main parts one of which is a bracket 12 ticmaterial such as a synthetic" plastic- 'p'refer ably of thermal 's'ettingcharacteristics; or" may optionally lee-made from'anysuitable ceramic having, a desirable configuration to" enhance" the appearance thereof or formed the shape of a tile so as to be" readily emplaceable -in a tiled Wall'of a batl iroonr orfthe' l-il're;
The brack'et" 12 has integrally formed therewith a horizontally extending flange! WhlCh' is pro vided with suitable recesses 22 for reception and support of conventional. toothbrushes. The side walls l6 and [8 are provided with vertically extending grooves 24 and 26. Extending transversely of the side walls l6 and I8 at the base thereof are apertures 28 and 30 for a purpose to be henceforth explained. Integrally formed with the back plate I4 is a base plate 32 which is provided with a peripheral flange 34. A threaded aperture 36 is formed in the base plate 32 for the reception of a collapsible tube containing; toothpaste, shaving cream, or the like. Secured to the base plate 32 and extending downwardly therefrom are two parallelly disposed lugs 38 and 40. Secured to a shaft 42 journaled between these lugs is a closure member 44 which is spring pressed by coil spring 46 to a position abutting the mouth of the collapsible tube.
A casing generally designated by the reference numeral 5|] and comprising a top plate 52, sides 54 and 56 and an arcuate central connecting portion 58 are slidably and detachably positioned with tongues 60 and 62 formed on the sides 54 and 56 respectively engaged within the bottom portion of the tongues 60 and 62 thereof, projections 64 and 66 which are adapted to be spring fitted Within the recesses or openings 28 and 30. A vertically extending slot 68 is formed in the arcuate portion 58 and within this slot is positioned a tube collapsing means comprising a winding key 10 having a transversely extending slot 12 therein, which is detachably secured to a tubular shaft 14 attached to a knob 16 having a knurled exterior configuration. The key 10 is adapted to encompass the end of the collapsible tube opposite the mouth and the end is positioned within the slot 12. When the knob 26 is rotated the end of the tube is turned in upon itself thus expelling paste through the mouth of the tube.
Since from the foregoing, the construction and advantages of. this. collapsible. tube holder are readily apparent, further description is believed to be unnecessary.
However, since numerous modifications and equivalents will readily occur to those skilled in the art after a consideration of the foregoing specification and accompanying drawings, it is not intended to limit the invention to the precise embodiment of the dispensing device shown and described, but all suitable changes in design, material, and the substitution of equivalents thereof, may be readily resorted to which fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described th invention, what is claimed as new is:
l. A dispensing device including a bracket having a back plate and a pair of forwardly extending side plates secured to said back plate medial the ends thereof, the opposed faces of said side plates having vertically extending grooves therein, a base plate connected to said back plate, a threaded aperture in said base plate, a casing having rearwardly extending sides connected by an arcuate central portion, said sides having vertically extending tongues thereon detachably engaged in said grooves, a vertically extending slot in said central portion, tube collapsing means having an operating handle extending slidably through said slot, and horizontally extending flanges secured to said sides of said casing having recesses opening into the front edges thereof for receiving and supporting toothbrushes.
25 Number 2. A dispensing device including a bracket having a back plate and a pair of forwardly extendin side plates secured to said back plate medial the ends thereof, the opposing faces of said side plates having vertically extending grooves therein, a base plate connected to said back plate, said base plate having a threaded aperture therein, a casing having rearwardly extending sides connected by an arcuate central portion, said sides having laterally extending tongues thereon detachably engaged in said grooves, said arcuate central portion having a central vertically extending slot therein, tube collapsing means slidably disposed in said slot, a pair of spaced vertically depending lugs secured to said base plate a shaft extendin between and rotatably journaled in said lugs, a closure plate swingably secured to said shaft, and resilient means on said shaft biasing said closure plate into overlying relationship to said threaded aperture.
