The wing sections 25and 28 adjacentvsection {9 have a width substantially the same as the length of lsections 20 and 22 and constitute the sides of the receptacle formed from the blank; The wing sections 26 and 29 have'a widthmaterially less than the width of sections 25 YandA 2'8 and constitute supporting tabs for the front'wall of the receptacle when thereceptacie is formed.

A safety razor blade 3B is superimposed' on one Yside of the blade support' section 1B with its cutting edge disposedslghty` b'eyondth'e' end' of this vsec'- 3 tion and is secured to the blade supporting section as by being glued or cemented thereto.

The blank is bent along the fold line I3, so that the section I8 is disposed at an acute angle to the section I9 with the blade on the outer side of the blade support section I 8.

The blade 38 and blade support section I8 are provided with apertures 3| and 32 disposed intermediate the Width of the blade and one near each end thereof and strips 33 and 34 of thin sheet metal, such as sheet aluminum, extend through the apertures 3| and 32 respectively and have bent over outer portions 35 and 36 superposed on the outer surface of the blade 38 and cemented thereto. At their other ends the strips 33 and 34 have bent over end portions superimposed upon and cemented to the adjacent surface of blank section I9 at locations spaced from the fold line I3, so that these strips support the blade and blade support blank section at a predetermined acute angle relative to section I9.

An elongated sheet metal bar 31 of channel shaped cross section is secured on the blade 38 along the edge of the blade remote fromY the sharpened edge thereof and receives this edge portion of the blade and adjacent end portion of section |9 therein, the bar being cemented to the blade and the portion of the blank along the fold line I3 to reinforce the connection between the blade and the blank.

The end section 23 of the blank remote from the blade support section I8 is longer than the. sections 28 and 22, but shorter than the sections' I9 and 2| and is used to constitute a portion of a handle formed by collapsing the receptacle in a manner later to be described after the receptacle has been formed from the blank 28.

Tabs 38 and 33 of rectangular shape and formed of bendable sheet material, such as sheet aluminum, are secured each at one end thereof to the blank section 2| substantially at the midlength location of each side margin of this section and extend outwardly one from each said side margin of the section 2 I.

Tabs 48, 4 I 42 and 43, of rectangular shape, are secured to section 23, one at each corner thereof at the same side of the blank as that at which the tabs 38 and 39 are secured and extend outwardly from the side edges of section 23 one at each end of each side edge.

Forming the blank into a receptacle In order to provide a receptacle to enclose the blade 38, the blank is rst bent at right angles along fold lines 44 and 45 along which the wings and I2 are respectively joined to the section I9, then along the fold lines 24 and 21. This places sections 25 and 28 forming the side walls of the receptacle perpendicular to the section I9 and the sections 26 and 29 forming the reinforcing tabs perpendicular to the sections 25 and 28 and extending inwardly from the edges of these sections remote from the section I9 constituting the back Wall of the receptacle. The blank is then successively bent at right angles along the fold lines I4, I5, I6 and |1, rst placing the end forming section perpendicular to the back forming section I9 with its ends contiguous to the corresponding ends of the side forming sections and 28, then disposing the front forming section '2 I'perpendicular to the end forming section 28' and superimposed'on thev supporting tabs 2'6 and 29 and s'paced'fromv and substantially paral'- to the back and front forming sections I9 and 2| with its ends contiguous to the adjacent ends of the side forming sections 25 and 28 and overlying the blade 38 and bar 31. The section 23 is then lapped over the outer side of the back forming section I9 and the tabs 48, 4I, 42 and 43 are bent at right angles to the section 23 along the side edges of section 23 and inserted through corresponding slots 46, 41, 46 and 49 provided in the blank at spaced apart locations along the fold lines 44 and 45. The tabs 38 and 39 are noW bent at right angles to section 2| along the corresponding edges of the section 2| and again bent at right angles along the corresponding edges of the section 23 to provide at their distal end portions, as indicated at 58l and 5I in Figure 4, overlying the outer surface of the section 23 to hold the receptacle in shape.

Thisprovides a receptacle of rectangular shape as illustrated in Figures 3 to 8 inclusive, which encloses-the blade 39 and may contain a tube 52 of shaving cream, as shown in Figures 6 and 8.

blank is then straightened along the fold lines I4v and I6 and folded along the fold line I5, so that section 2| overlaps section 28 and sections 2| and 22 are superposed on the sides ofthe Wings II and |2 remote from the section I9. The blank is then folded along fold line I1, so that section 23 is superposed on the sides of sections 2| and 22 remote from the Wings II and I2 and tabs 48, 4I, 42 and 43 are then reinserted through slots 46, 41, 48 and 49 respectively. Tabs 38 and 39 are then bent around the edges of the folded blank, so that the distal end portions 58 and 5I are disposed against the side of section |9 adjacent the blade 38.

ThisA arrangement provides a compact handle,

as illustrated in Figures 10, 11, 12 and 13, of suffi-,-

cient stiffness for use in shaving.

In the modified arrangement shown in Figure 15, the blade support section I8 comprises a blank portion longer than the width of the blade and is folded upon itself to provide two superposed layers 53 and 54 underlying the blade 38, and a third layer 55 overlying the outer side of the blade` The strips 33 and 34 extend through the three layers 53, 54 and 55 of the blade support, as Well as through the blade itself, and the bent over outer end portions of these strips are superposed on and cemented to the outer surface of the outer layer 55.

This is a disposable razor and if, after it has been used once for shaving, it is not returned to its receptacle form, but is merely discarded.

The invention may be embodied in other specie forms Without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof. embodiments are, therefore, to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive, the

scope of the invention being indicated by the appended claims rather than by the foregoing The present` description, and all changes which come withinthe meaning and range of equivalency of the claims are, therefore, intended to be embraced therein.

What I claim:

1i, A disposable safety razor comprising an, elongated rectangular body of foldable sheejo material having transversely disposed fold lines dividing it longitudinally into six consecutively arranged sections and longitudinally disposedJ of said six contiguous sections at an acute anglev to the section adjacent thereto, a razor blade carried by said one terminal section, tabs on an intermediate one of said six consecutively are ranged sections engageable with the other terr; minal section to hold said sections in that one' of two folded conditions in which they constitute a container inclosing said razor blade, and talosy on the other terminal section of said six conlsecutively arranged sections engageable in sldt between said center section and side sections "'f said three contiguous sections to hold said sefc? tions in the other of said two folded conditions in which they constitute a blade handle extend# ing from one edge of said one terminal section.

2. An assembly comprising an elongated body of foldable sheet material foldable along transversely and longitudinally extending lines to proj-i' vide a plurality of contiguous sections foldablel relative to each other, a razor blade secured Eto the section at one end of said body, means holds,-T ing the blade carrying section at an acute angle to the section adjacent thereto and over1yin`g"a portion of such adjacent section, and means car.- ried by the section at the other end of said boda and engageable with other of said sections to hold said sections in either of two alternative folded conditions in one of which they provide a container enclosing said blade and in the other of which they provide a handle extending from one edge of said blade carrying section.

3. An assembly comprising an elongated body of foldable sheet material foldable along transversely and longitudinally extending lines to provide a plurality of contiguous sections foldable relative to each other, a razor blade securedgio the section at one end of said body, means holding the blade carrying section at an acute angle to the section adjacent thereto and overlyingl a portion of such adjacent section, means car d by the sections to hold said sections in ei r of two alternative folded conditions in onejof which they provide a container enclosing said blade and in the other of which they provide a handle extending from one edge of said blade carrying section. and a channel-shaped stiffener clamped upon said blade at one edge of the latter and upon said blade carrying section and said adjacent section.

4. An assembly comprising an elongated body of foldable sheet material foldable along transversely and longitudinally extending lines to provide a plurality of contiguous sections foldable relative to each other, a razor blade secured to the section at one end of said body, means holding the blade carrying section at an acute angle to the section adjacent thereto and overlying a portion of such adjacent section, means carried by the section at the other end of said body and engageable with one of the other sections to hold said sections in either of two alternative folded conditions in one of which they provide a container enclosing said blade and in the other of which they provide a handle extending from one edge of said blade carrying section, and bendable elements carried by an intermediate section and engaging another of said sections when said sections are folded relative to each other to provide the blade enclosing retainer for reelasably securing said sections in such folded condition.

5. An assembly comprising an elongated body of foldable sheet material foldable along transversely andlongitudinally extending lines to provide a plurality of contiguous sections foldable relative to each other, a razor blade secured to the section at one end of said body, means holding the blade carrying section at an acute angle to the section adjacent thereto and overlying a portion of such adjacent section, means carried by the section at the other end of said body and engageable with one of the other sections to hold said sections in either of two alternative folded conditions in one of which they provide a container enclosing said blade and in the other of which they provide a handle extending from one edge of said blade carrying section, said blade carrying section being folded to provide a blade holder having a portion overlying and a doubled portion underlying the blade.
