This invention relates" generally to games and particularly to a Holder for unchboards:

Referring in detail to the drawing, there is shown a base H), from which arises the back; H and the inclined front l2, provided along its upper edge with a wall l3 which extends to the sides l4 which carry the shelves l5, upon which the board l6 rests.

The board I6 is of the common punchboard variety having the punch-outs ll folded up and stored within the openings I 8, from which it can be punched by means of a key or wire [9. The board It is prevented from sliding down the members I5 by the ledge 20 at the lower end thereof.

Within the front I2 is formed an opening 2|, in which is mounted the cylindrical gate 22 having a small square pocket 23 formed therein. The pocket 23 has its side 24 somewhat below the outermost face of the front [2.

The upper end of the frame 31 has the upwardly extending flange 43 which is used to support the display element 44.

On the back II is secured a hasp 45.0f a lock 46 whose striker plate 41 is attached to the lower end 48 of the flange 43.

In Fig. 5 is shown the position of the winding roller 35, which is actuated from the knurled handle 49.

The shaft 50 of the roller 35 is provided with a plurality of index holes 51 which engage the index point 52 of a spring 53, whose up-turned end 54 engages the underside 55 of the frame 3?. The spring 53 is anchored by the screw 55 and bears against the stop 51 disposed on the side 3|.

The operation of the device is as follows, assuming that the parts are in place as shown in Fig. 2 and it is desired to operate the board. The player punches through the paper web 34 by means of the punch l9, pushing the punch-out 58 through as shown in Fig. 8. These fall upon the sloping front [2 into the pocket 23 until the play ceases. The player then operates the hand lever 59 secured on the end of the gate 22, caus ing it to discharge the punchings 58 forwardly under the lip 60 on to the table 61.

The movement of the gate 22, however, has caused the arm 25 to sweep past the lever 29 and cause the bell 28 to be struck by the hammer 39,

announcing to the proprietor or attendant that the play is over and that there must be an accounting for the play.

The attendant observes the number of holes punched in the web 34, which gives an accurate check on the number of punch-outs, thereby discouraging the tendency of dropping certain of the punch-outs when paying for the plays. It will be noted that while the frame 31 is in place, the index point 52 is occupying one of the holes 5| in the roller 35, preventing the rotation thereof.

The attendant therefore is forced to unlock the lock 46 by means of the key 62, making it possible to raise the frame 31 and permitting the spring 53 to withdraw the index point '52, thereby enabling the attendant to rotate theroller35 and cause the perforated portion of the sheet 34 to roll past the holes in the punchboard. When the frame 31 is again locked, the roller 35 is also looked automatically. 7

It can be seen from the foregoing that it will be exceedingly difficult to play this machine Without accounting to the operator for the correct number of plays made thereon.

I am aware that numerous forms of punchboard holders have been made in the past in which an alarm is given when the board is operated and it is, therefore, not my intention to cover alarm devices broadly, but it is my intention to cover such forms and modifications of this invention as fall fairly within the appendant claims.

I claim:

1. A punchboard housing comprising a pair of spaced vertical side walls, a sloping front forming a spacer for said side walls, shelves for supporting a punchboard over said front in spaced relation thereto, enabling pellets from said punchboard to fall on said front, a rectangular frame covering said front and extending around the top edges of the side walls, a tubular guard 4 forming part of said frame and hinged to said side walls, a paper holding roller mounted in said guard, said paper holding roller having paper wound therearound a shaft journalled in said side walls below the upper end of said front, said shaft having index holes formed around one end thereof, a winding roller on said shaft, said paper being passed over the upper surface of the punchboard. around the upper end thereof, and. around the winding roller 2. spring having one end. attached to a side frame and having its oppositeend engaging the under side of said frame, the middle portion of said spring having a point nor-- mally engaging an index hole in said winding: shaft, when said frame is in a closed position and. being disengaged by said spring when said frame is in a raised open position and a look for holding; said frame in a closed position.

2. The housing as described in claim 1, to gether with a gate within the lower portion of. said sloping front controlling the discharge of pellets through said front, a spring for urging: said gate toward a closed position, a hand lever for opening said gate, an arm projecting from said gate, and an alarm actuated by the movement of said arm.
