babies and has especial reference to a crib that can be easily transported and set up on a bed with ease and security, either at home or elsewhere, such as in a hotel or other place offering shelter and accommodations to guests or travelers and wayfarers.

An object is to provide a simple, efiicient structure which can be quickly and easily set up on top of a bed and securely retained in position.

A further object is to provide a crib which can be quickly and easily taken down and packed into a small compass, that it can be readily stored and carried in an automobile or other vehicle, without taking up much space therein.

Another object is to provide a crib, adapted when set up on a bed, to afford easy access to the area enclosed by it, to facilitate laying its intended occupant in it, and lifting the occupant out of it.

The objects, features, and advantages will more clearly appear in the detailed specification that follows, especially when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings that illustrate a present preferred form or embodiment of the invention, and that form part of the disclosure.

Briefly and generally stated the invention involves a collapsible crib which can be handled with ease and set up on a bed at home or in places visited where there is no crib handy. The crib in the main comprises spaced ends, to which are detachably connected, extensible and 001- lapsible sides with means, preferably connected to the ends, to attach or fasten the crib to the bed, preferably by connection with the side rails of the latter.

More particularly the crib comprises spaced ends; top rails connecting the ends; detachable collapsible and extensible sides associated with the ends, and flexible connections engaging the ends and adapted to be secured to side rails. of the bed.

The present preferred form which the invention may assume is illustrated in the drawings, on which,

.In the construction of the crib there are two spaced ends, each comprisin top and bottom parts in the form of bars or strips of wood, metal or other material l0 and II, vertical corner bars l2 and I3 and verticalspaced rods l4 extending therebetween. At-their ends the top rails III are recessed or undercut on their lower faces as at I5 and this recessed end of the rail has a bore in which lies a cylindrical lining or sleeve I6 projecting beyond the rabbeted surface and having lateral exposed slots I! ,in which lie the ends of a bent spring catch l8 fastened to the face of the cutawayportion I5 by screw l9. Through this sleeve is adapted to extend the somewhat pointed or coned lower end of a bolt having: lateral groove 2| near its lower end. This bolt is fastened to and extends through the end of the longitudinal bar 22 and when this bar is laid upon the bar ID the boltwill pass into the sleeve and the spring catch l8 will engage in the grooves in the side of the bar to hold the ends of the bars [0 and 22 together at each corner of thecrib. This design affords a very simple, quickyand' effective means to set up the crib. When the ends and the longitudinal top bars are thus united it then is in order to put the sides into position.

These sides each comprise two upright bars or members 23 provided with top and bottom headed bolts 24 adapted to extend into keyhole slots 25 in plates 26 fastened to the adjacent faces of the vertical corner bars l2 and I3. Beneath the plates 26 is a recess 21 formed in the bars l2 and I3 to permit of the projection thereinto of the heads of the bolts 24. The heads of the bolts are inserted into the large upper end of the slot and then moved down into the narrow portion where they are therein locked, the edges of which are closer together than the diameter of the heads on the bolts. fords also a simple, quick, and effective means for attaching the side of the crib to the ends.

The sides are made up of bars 23 and lazytong elements 28 besides the top bars 22. The strips 28 are pivoted together in the usual manner with one end of the terminal elements 28 pivotally connected to the bars 23 as shown. e 3 of the lower bars H are provided with flexible connectors 39 such as cords or tapes, the ends of which as shown in Figure 1 can be wrapped and tied around the'side beams 3| of the bed and thus firmly secure the crib in position on the bed after it has been assembled thereon.

While the invention has been described at length with reference to a preferred embodiment thereof,-I do not wish to be limited to structure details herein described since many changes and modifications may be made in the construction actually used without departing from the basic principle of the invention in its broad aspects.

Hence, the invention may assume an'yform'and V modification which comes within the meaning of terms of the appended claims.

What I claim as my invention,?-is: V

1. A childs crib having ends, and sides, the latter comprising top bars detachably connected to the tops of the ends, extensible members below each of said b'ars, 'theflatter'having grooves in the under faces to receive the upper ends of's'aid membrsfandflexible connectors, united to the crib so that the crib may be secured on top of a bed.

A childs crib comprising ends having top bars eachwith an under cut face at the extremities, and having vertical bores in said extremities, a sleeve in each bore and projecting at one 'endfromsaid face, the sleeve having lateral slots in its exposed portion, longitudinal bars connecting the ends, bolts in the extremities of the longitudinal bars, the lower ends of the bolts having circumferenti'al grooves therein, a spring catch on the underside of each-top bar having arms lying in the lateral slots in'the sleeve, each of said bolts being adapted to be inserted through the adjacent sleeve'until the grooves'in'the bolt are engaged by the spring catch, whereby the longitudinal bars are connected-detachably to the ends.
