Each such frame comprises a pair of laterally and parallelly spaced side frame structures formed by horizontally and longitudinally extending bottom sections or bars 21, from and unitary with the outer ends of which extend perpendicular rear seating leg members 28. Inwardly extending from and unitary with the upper ends of said rear seating leg members 28 are horizontal seating rest sections or bars 29, which are thus disposed parallel to the bottom sections or bars 21, but which are of less length than the latter. Downwardly extending from and unitary with the inner ends of said seating rest sections or bars 29 are perpendicular front seating leg members 36, the lower ends of which abut said bottom sections or bars 21, and are suitably affixed thereto, as e. g. by brazing or other suitable mechanical fastening. Unitary with and extending between the bottom sections or bars 21 is at least one connecting cross-bar 3|. Each bottom section or bar 27 terminates, at its inner end, in a right angularly out-turned terminal portion which constitutes a hinge pin 32. Afilxed to and 'so as to bridge across the seating rest sections or bars 29 of the seating frame is a seat top 33, which is affixed thereto by any suitable fastening means, such e. g. as by screws or bolts 34. Said seat top 33 may be suitably upholstered or cushioned in any desirable manner.

To operatively assemble a seating member in -foldably connected relation to the table member, the oppositely projecting hinge pins 32 of the bottom sections or bars 21 of the seating frame are respectively entered and journaled in the hinge sockets 23 of laterally opposed table leg members 2|, thus hingedly connecting the seating member to and at an end of the table member. The assembly may, if desired, include but one such seatin member thus foldably related to one end of the table member, but the assembly preferably comprises two such seating members, respectively foldably related to opposite ends of the table member, as shown.

Owing to the greater lengths of the bottom sections or bars 21 of the seating frames, it will be observed that, when the seating members are out-folded to positions for use, that the latter will be so spaced from the table member end as to properly seat the user at and adjacent to the table member end. When the seating members are out-folded to positions of use, the bottom sections or bars 21 will extend along and rest upon the floor surface, thus providing firm and strong support of the seating members and the occupants thereof.

When use of the seating members, or either one thereof, is not desired, the same may be upswung about their hinging connections with the table leg members 2|, so as to be in-folded between the latter and beneath the table top 24. Stop means is provided which is engageable by the seating members, whereby to limit in-folding movements thereof, and at the same time to hold the seat tops 33 raised above the floor, so that marring of the latter or injury to the upholstering or cushioning thereof cannot occur, if the table member is moved about. Said stop means comprises a stop member 35 which is connected by suitable hinge means 36 to the mid-portion of the underside of the table top 24. In a preferred form thereof, as shown, said stop member 35 comprises an open rectangular 4 frame, one transverse end of which is journaled in the hinge means 36. By reason of its hinged connection to the underside of the table top 24, said stop member 35 may be up-folded, when not in use, fiat against the underside of the table top, and out of the way of the legs of occupants of the operative seating members, when said occupants are seated at the table member. Said stop member 35 is so related to the table top that, when its use is desired, it may be downturned to depend perpendicularly from the table top in a plane coincident or parallel to the longitudinal axis of the table member; the stop member being of such width, when so disposed, that its sides may be abutted by the in-folded seating members, so as to hold the latter in desired out-of-use positions.

From the above description, it will be obvious that the instant invention provides, as a unitary assembly, a table and foldably related seating means therefor, which is of very simple, strong, durable and easily manipulated construction; and which, in use, provides means for seating users conveniently adjacent to the table top for use thereof. The structure may be made in suitable sizes for the accommodation of adults or children, and is especially well adapted, when suitably sized, to provide a play table and associated seating for children.

Having now described my invention, I claim:

1. An article of furniture providing a table and relatively foldable seating therefor in the form of a unitary assembly comprising a table leg structure formed by laterally and parallelly spaced inverted U-shaped leg frames made of bent tubing, a table top bridgin the tops of said leg frames, opposed dependent legs of said leg frames terminating at their lower extremities in horizontal inwardly projecting and aligned open-ended hinge socket forming portions adapted for floor contact throughout their length, a seating member formed by laterally and parallelly spaced rectangular seat frames made of bent tubing, a seat top bridging the top portions of said seat frames, and the extreme bottom portion of each seat frame having a substantially horizontal extension projecting from the inner side of the frame, said extensions terminating in laterally and outwardly projecting hinge pin forming portions adapted for alignment with and to be journaled in the opposed hinge socket forming portions of the table leg frames for pivotally connecting seat frames to the table leg structure, whereby said seating member may be optionally out-swung to seating position exteriorly of the table leg structure wherein the inward extensions of the seat frames are adapted for floor contact inward of the center of gravity of the seating member or in-swung to out-of-use position within said table leg structure and beneath the table top.

An article of furniture providing a table and relatively foldable seating therefor in the form of a unitary assembly comprising a table leg structure formed by laterally and parallelly spaced inverted U-shaped leg frames made of bent tubing, a table top bridging the tops of said leg frames. opposed dependent legs of said leg frames terminating at their lower extremities in horizontal inwardly projecting outwardly open hinge socket forming portions adapted for floor contact throughout their length, a seating member formed by laterally and parallelly spaced rectangular seat frames made of bent tubing, a seat top bridging the top portions of said seat frames, the extreme bottom portion of each seat frame having an extension projecting from the inner side of the frame, said extensions terminating in outwardly projecting hinge pin forming portions adapted for alignment with and to be journaled in the opposed hinge socket forming portions of the table leg frames for pivotally connecting seat frames to the table leg structure, whereby said seating member may be optionally out-swung to seating position exteriorly of the table leg structure wherein the inward extensions of the seat frames are adapted for floor contact inward of the center of gravity of the seating member or in-swung to out-of-use position within said table leg structure and beneath the table top, and stop means dependent from the table top to determine the inswung out-of-use position of the seating member.

3. A table and relatively foldable seating members connected with opposite ends thereof comprising a table leg structure formed by laterally and parallelly spaced inverted U-shaped leg frames made of bent tubing, a table top bridging the tops of said leg frames, each pair of laterally opposed dependent legs of said leg frames terminating at their lower extremities in opposed horizontal inwardly projecting and aligned open-ended hinge socket forming portions adapted for floor contact throughout their length, each seating member being formed by laterally and parallelly spaced rectangular seat frames made of bent tubing, a seat top bridging the top portion of said seat frames, the extreme bottom portions of each seat frame havof the frame and adapted for floor contact inward of the center of gravity of the seat frame in the out-swung position of the corresponding seating member, said extensions terminating in laterally and outwardly projecting hinge pin forming portions, the hinge pin forming portions of the seat frame of the respective seating members being aligned with and journaled in the opposed hinge socket forming portions of dependent legs at respectively opposite ends of the table leg structure for pivotally connecting said seating members respectively thereto, whereby said seating members may be optionally out-swung to seating position exteriorly of the table leg structure or inswung to out-of-use position within said table leg structure and beneath the table top.

4. A table and relatively foldable seating members as defined in claim 3 including stop means dependent from the table top to determine the ins'wung out-of-use positions of the seating members.
