3 Claims.
This invention relates to fountain pens.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a fountain pen which is adapted for use by students and teachers and which has a multiple arrangement of pens and chambers for containing respectively different colored inks and wherein the pen can be readily adjusted to a position of use by the user depending upon the color desired.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a multiple fountain pen arrangement which is of simple construction, easy to adjust, easy to fill with the different colored inks, inexpensive to manufacture, convenient to use and efficient in operation.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. l is a top plan view of the fountain pen arrangement embodying the features of the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of the fountain pen.
Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional View, in elevation, taken generally on line 3-3 of Fig.. 4.
Figs. 4 and 5 are respectively transverse crosssectional views taken respectively on lines 4-4 and 5-5 of Fig. 2.
Referring now to the figures, represents a hollow ring formation with hollow projections l I extending radially therefrom at circumferentially spaced locations thereon. On these projections ll there are respectively located pen points I2 over which covers [3 can be extended to protect the pen points when they are not in use. This hollow ring formation In is partitioned as indicated at whereby to provide a plurality of arcuate shaped chambers It for containing the ink.
Extending upwardly and radially inwardly from the ring formation are arcuate shaped portions I! having respectively passages l8 communicating with storage chambers 19. In these storage chambers Hi, there are respectively disposed different colored inks. The ink will flow down wardly through the passages and will be delivered to the chamber 16. The flow from the chambers l9, however, is through an opening in which is threaded a valve element M. The valve element may be screwed into and out of its respective opening to control the flow of ink to the chambers 16. The arcuate portions I1 are integral with a central hub 22 to the bottom of which there is connected for rotative adjustment relative thereo, a handle portion 23 adapted to be adjusted for alignment with the pen point sleeves II and be secured to the ring formation it) by set screws 24. To efiect this connection through the hub 22, there is extended. a shaft 2'6 having a head 21 embedded in the handle 23. On the upper end of the shaft 26 there is connected a nut 28 which is made preferably of fiexible material so as to effectively close filling openings 2a through which the inks are poured to fill the chambers H).
To put the pen into use, the nut 281 may be slightly loosened to permit the handle 23 to be adjusted to the particular pen point [2 to be used. With the handle 23 aligned as shown in Fig. 5 to the particular pen point and locked in position by screws 24, the handle can be grasped between the thumb and fingers and the writing done with the same. Ink will be supplied from the arcuate chambers l6 and should these chambers run dry other ink can be taken from the storage chambers l9 by releasing the valve element or screw 2|. To render the handle portion 23 more comfortable, cavities or depressions 3| may be provided adjacent the ends of the same.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A multiple color fountain pen arrangement comprising a hollow ring formation having sleeve projections extending radially outwardly therefrom at circumferentially spaced locations thereon, pen points connected to the sleeve projections, said ring formations being hollow and partitioned to provide chambers for different inks, a structure extending upwardly from the ring formation and having a hub portion, a handle adjustably connected to the hub portion of the structure and adapted to be rotatably adjusted within the ring formation for alignment with the respective hollow sleeve projections having the pen points.
2. A multiple color fountain pen arrangement comprising a hollow ring formation having sleeve projections extending radially outwardly therefrom at circumferentially spaced locations thereon, pen points connected to the sleeve projections, said ring formations being hollow and partitioned to provide chambers for different inks, a storage chamber structure extending upwardly from the ring formation and comprising arcuate portions with passages therein, storage nected to the central portion of the upwardly 10 extending structure and depending therefrom and rotatably adjustable for alignment with the respective sleeve formations having the pen point, and means for locking the handle in its adjusted position.
