Allothelbct-.bilithe invention is to provide a spring actuated means for throwing a ball at aglf i" l t Q f' n n-l. JBL lfd-gd Figure 5 is a sectional view taken on line 5-5 tureY 4U. 'The outer feather edg of Figure 1.
While one embodiment of the invention is ilend 26 of lever arm 25 that the upper incline 4I lustrated in the above referred to drawings, it is 30 of the Z-head 26 will, when thrown up, strike the to be understood that they are merely for the inner side 42 of the ball I9 and drive it in an arc purpose of illustration and that various changes 43 (indicated in dotted lines Figure 1) toward the in construction may be resorted to in the course basket I8. f
for the ball I9 which seat is so located over the of manufacture in order that the invention may In operation, the knob 44 of plunger 29 is pulled f be utilized to the best advantage according to out against tension of spring 36 and then let go, circumstances which may arise, without in any the spring pulling it back with force and causing way departing from the spirit and intention of the cushion 45 on the end of the plunger to strike the device, which is to be limited only in accordarm 21 and drive up arm 25 and make member ance with the appended claims. And while there 4 I strike the ball I9 with force driving the same is stated the primary eld of utility of the yinven- 40 at basket I8; whether the ball reaches the goal,
tion it remains obvious that it may be employed of course, must depend upon either chance or the in any other capacity wherein it may be found skill of the operator. The ball I9 is preferably applicable. made of hollow plastic or treated fabric, felt or In the accompanying drawings, and in the folthe like, or it may be made of rubber depending lowing specification, the same reference charac- 215 upon the price at which the device is to be sold. ters are used to designate the same partsand ele- In playing the game, especially if one of skill, ments throughout and in which II] refers to the each player may move the box 29 at any distance invention in its entirety and II indicates a goalV from the goal basket or at any angle relative and I2 a ball throwing member. The goal conthereto he desires. 4'5' i-s'a nut to limit movesists of a base I3 to which is xed an upright post 50 ment of the plunger. I4 to the upper end I'5 of which is xed a rebound From the foregoing specification it will become board I6 shaped preferably in the form of a lima apparent that the invention disclosed will adebean and projecting from which is a ring I'I carquately accomplish the functions for which it has rying a bottomless basket or tubular net I8 been designed and in an economical manner and through which balls I9 may fall. 55 that its simplicity, accuracy and ease of operation are such as to provide a relatively inexpensive device considering what it will accomplish and that it will iind an important place in the art to which it appertains when once placed on the market.
It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connectionwiththe drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.
Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resortedlt'd in actual practice, if desired.
I-Iaving now described the invention that which is claimed to be new and desired to be procured by Letters Patent is:
1. A game apparatus comprising a box including a top, a projectile recess in the top, a shaft carried by said box, a bell-crank lever pivotally mounted on said shaft and having one end positioned for movement toward said top and said recess, and a spring controlled plunger slidably mounted in said box for striking said lever to project a projectile seated in said projectile recess, said top and said recess being parallel to said plunger.
2. A game apparatus comprising a box including a top, a projectile recess in the top, a shaft carried by said box, a bell-crank lever of resilient material pivoted on said shaft, a spring controlled plunger slidably mounted in said box for striking one leg of said lever, the Vopposite leg of said lever being adapted to swing toward said top and said recess to project a projectile seated in said recess upon sliding movement of said plunger in one direction, and means for guiding the pivotal movement of said lever.
3. The combination of claim 2 wherein a hook member is punched inwardly from one leg of said lever to pivotally engage said shaft.
4. A game apparatus comprising a Ibox including a top, a projectile recess in the top, a shaft carried by said box, a bell-crank lever, a hook member punched inwardly from one leg of said 4 lever pivotally engaging said shaft, one eg of said lever being folded upwardly upon itself to provide an increased thickness, a spring controlled plunger slidably mounted in said .box for striking the double thickness leg of said lever, and a V-shaped portion carried by the terminal of the opposite leg of said lever and movable in an arc toward said recess for projecting a projectile from said recess upon actuation of said, plunger in one direction.-
5. A game apparatus comprising a substantially rectangular box including a top, a projectile recess in the top, said recess being tapered to pro- -vide areduced upper portion a pair of spaced parallel posts carried by said box, a shaft carried by said posts, a bell-crank lever pivotally mounted on said shaft between said posts, one leg of said lever being of a greater weight than the other leg of said lever to normally hold the latter leg in a raised position, a spring controlled plunger slid-I ably mounted in said box for striking said latter leg upon movement of said plunger in one'direction, and a lcontact lip carried by the terminal of said rst mentioned leg engageable with a projectile seated inthe upper portion of said recess- ROSS RICHARDS REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the le of this patent:
