4 Claims. (01. 16-34) This invention relates to new and useful imi provements in roller attachments and the primary feature of the present invention is to provide an attachment for drag saws includinga frame and a roller pivoted'to said frame whereby the saw may be made portable or remain in a fixed position.
Another important feature of the present invention is to provide a device of the character referred to facilitating the handling and moving of a drag saw to various points for use.
A further feature of the present invention is to provide a roller attachment which is quickly and readily applied to a supporting structure for use therewith.
A still further feature of the present invention is to provide a device of the class described that is simple and practical in construction, strong and reliable in use, relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted to the purposes for which same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a, side elevational view of the device applied to the platform of the drag saw, showing the roller portion of the device in an unused position.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the device showing the roller portion in a fixed position, for
use.
Figure 3 is a similar view of Figure 2 showing the roller in a raised unused position.
Figure 4 is an end view of Figure 2;
Figure 5 is a group perspective view of the roller attachment;
Figure 6 is an enlarged vertical sectional view taken on line 6-6 of Figure 4; and
Figure 7 is an enlarged horizontal sectional view taken on line 'i---'! of Figure 4.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration, there is dis closed a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the numeral l0 represents a substantially U-shaped frame having its lower ends turned outwardly in an opposite direction to provide feet l2.
Welded or otherwise rigidly secured to the upper portion of frame Ii! is a vertically disposed sleeve l4 having a plurality of apertures I6, for adjustably attaching the frame to the supporting platform, 18, of a usual drag saw designated'generally by the numeral 20. y .i
Removably and pivotally mounted on frame In by bolts and nuts and thelike 22 is a sub stantially inverted U-shaped wheel support '24, having its lower ends '26 projecting'downwardly from frame Ifl when the axis of said support is in alignment with the axis of the frame.
A removable shaft 28 is carried by the lower ends 26 of support 24, and journaled for rotation on said shaft is a wheel 30 having a rubber tire 32.
A bracket 34 is secured to the frame, and provided with an aperture 36 directly opposing an aperture 38 in the frame.
Carried by the bracket and extending through apertures 36 and 38 is a locking pin 40. A coil spring 42 carried by said pin normally extends the pin through the frame, as shown in Figure 4 in the drawings.
In use of the device the sleeve 14 is adjustably attached to preferably the'rear and forward portions of the platform I8, as shown in Figure 1 in the drawing. Pin 40 is retracted so that support 24 extends vertically between a stop 44, carried by the frame, and the locking pin.
In this position the drag saw may be conveniently transported for use.
To prevent movement of the drag saw platform during operation, pin 40 is again retracted and support 24 swung outwardly so that the feet I2 bear on a supporting surface, as shown in Figure 3 of the drawings.
In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the device Will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.
It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A roller attachment comprising a frame, feet carried by said frame, a wheel support pivotally and detachably mounted on said frame, a wheel removably carried by said support, and means locking said support against pivotal movement relative to said frame, said locking means including a bracket secured to said frame, aligned apertures in said frame and bracket, pin means extending through said apertures, means engaging said bracket and pin means for resiliently biasing said pin means through said frame aperture and into the path of pivotal-movement of said wheel support.

A roller attachment comprising a frame, feet carried by said frame, a Wheel support pivotally and detachably mounted on said frame, a wheel removably carried by said support, and means for locking saidasupport: against. pivotal movement with respeetz'to' saidiframe, said; locking means including a bracket secured to said frame, aligned apertures in said frame and bracket, pin means;
extending through said apertures, animeansuengaging said bracket and pin means for-resifientiy biasing said pin means through saidsframa-apsn ture and 'into' the path of pivotal movement of said Wheel support, said resilient biasing means comprising a coil spring.
