This invention relates to improvements in womens undergarments and Imore particularly to those in the nature of garter belts or hose supporters provided with means for the support of catamenial devices r sanitary pads, thereby ob- Viating the necessity of special supports or garments.
The object of this invention is to provide a sanitary pad support in combination with a hose support or similar garment, wherein the pad supporting means act in an ecient and positive manner to distribute the strains engendered by use with a maximum of comfort and safety.
A further object of this invention is to provide a garter belt with pad supporting means which will eliminate discomfort to the wearer whether said pad supporting device is in actual use or not.
An additional object of this invention is to' provide a pad support in combination with a garter belt, wherein the pad support is instantaneously available for use without any disarrangement of said garter belt, and in which the pad support constitutes an integral part thereof and retains the belt close to the body of the wearer at all times.
Further objects will be described hereinafter in the specifications and will be more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the garment showing the sanitary napkin in position by broken lines.

Fig. 1 illustrates a preferred form of the invention. The garter belt II is provided with means to support a catamenial device or sanitary napkin I2. The napkin I2 is shown in broken lines and forms no part of this invention. The garter belt I I is formed of a front panel I3, a rear panel I4 and two side panels I5 and I6. These panels are secured to each other at their adjacent edges by suitable means so that they form a garment to besupported on the hip or Waist portion of the body of the wearer. Along the junction of these panels and running substantially the entire width of said garment II, transverse stiiening members I1, such as stays or bones, are provided which may be inserted in channels I8 formed by parallel lines of stitching I9 in spaced relation on the overlapping side edges of the panels. At the lower edge of the garment Il, hose supporting bands 20 and clips 2| are provided which are appropriately attached to perform the hose supporting function of the garment II, These may be of any conventional type.
The napkin I2 is held in place by supporting means which comprise bands of longitudinally extensible elastic material 23, each being provided with a tab 24 and suitable clip 25.
The bands of elastic material 23 are provided on the interior side of the front and rear panels I3 and I4. As more clearly shown in Fig. 2, the ends of the elastic bands '23 are secured at 22 to the upper ends of the stiifening members I'I by stitching or in a suitable manner.
Each of the elastic bands 23 is in its normal or unextended condition shorter than the fabric of the particular panel I 3, I4, with which it is associated so that when the fabric is made taut as when the garment II is placed on the body of the wearer the elasticfbands 23 are extended and placed under proper' tension. It will be readily seen that the tension thus applied will be communicated to the stay members I1 and result in additional support against the body of the wearer therebypreventing any slippage of the garment II and increasing its eiciency. It will also be apparent that the elastic bands 23 being under tension will assume positions parallel to the upper edges of the panels I3 and I4, thus preventing the formation of folds or creases which might result in bulges or discomfort to the wearer.
The tabs 24, as shown more clearly in Figs. 3 and 4, are identical to each other and are'formed of two layers of tape or other suitable non-elastic strip material. The two layers of tape may be separate strips or formed by looping a length of tape over the center portion of each of the elastic bands 23 and secured thereto by stitching or other suitable means. The napkin supporting clips 25 are inserted by means of passing the layer of tape 26 nearest the interior surface of the panels I3 and I4 through the slots 28 provided in the upper portion of the clips 25. The lower portion of tabs 24 comprising both layers of tape are folded upwardlyjtoward the inner surface of the panels I3 and I4., These folds are secured by stitching 29 along'fthe side edges of the lower portion of the tabs. ".By thus limiting the stitch'- ing 29 to the lower portion of the tabs 24, it will be seen that the clips are free to slide up and down along each of the inner layers of tape, 26, which form a slide therefore and slidably retain each of the clips 25. By limiting the stitching 29 to the side edges of the lower portion of the tabs 24, the upper edges 30 of the folds are left open, thus forming pockets 3| suitable to receive and retain the lower portion of the napkin clips 25 in a xed position, While the clips '25 are not in use. An electrode splicing device for splicing electrode sections having threaded sockets in their ends, said splicing device comprising a reversing motor, a draft shaft upon the motor, a tubular feed screw surrounding the drive shaft and fixed relative to the motor, a feed nut threaded upon the feed screw, a tubular plug surrounding the feed screw and fixed to the feed nut, said plug being externally threaded to engage a threaded socket of an electrode section, and means operatively connecting the drive shaft to said plug throughout the entire travel of the feed nut upon the feed screw and rigid radial arms upon said tubular plug.

An electrode splicing device for splicing electrode sections having threaded sockets in their ends, said splicing device comprising a base plate, a reversing motor mounted upon the base plate, a drive shaft upon the motor located downward through the base plate, a tubular feed screw surrounding the drive shaft and fixed at its upper end to the base plate, a tubular plug internally threaded upon the feed screw and externally threaded to engage a threaded socket of an electrode section, and means operatively connecting the drive shaft to said plug throughout the entire travel of the plug upon the feed screw.
9. An electrode splicing device for splicing electrode sections having threaded sockets in their ends, said splicing device comprising a base plate, a yoke connected to the base plate for suspending the splicing device above an electrode section,
a reversing motor mounted upon the base plate, a rdrive shaft upon the motor located downward through the base plate, a tubular feed screw surrounding the drive shaft and fixed at its upper end to the base plate, a tubular plug internally threaded upon the feed screw and externally threaded to engage a threaded socket of an electrode section, and means operatively connecting the drive shaft to said plug throughout the entire travel of the plug upon the feed screw.

An electrode splicing device for splicing electrode sections having threaded sockets in their ends, said splicing device comprsing a base plate, a reversing motor mounted upon the base plate, a drive shaft upon the motor located downward through the base plate, a tubular feed screw surroundingthe drive shaft and fixed at its upper end to the base plate, a feed nut tthreaded uponl the feed screw, a tubular plug surrounding the feed screw and fixed to the feed nut, said plug being externally threaded to engage a threaded socket of an electrode section, said plug having longitudinal grooves therein and a driving spider upon the drive shaft engaging said longitudinal grooves throughout the entire travel of the feed nut upon the feed screw and means for holding said base plate against rotation.
