2 Claims.

This invention relates to a buckle and has more particular relation to a suspender buckle having an interchangeable emblem plate incorporated therein.

Another object of the invention resides in the provision of a buckle having novel means for con necting the same to a suspender.

Another object of the invention is to provide a buckle of the character described having a novel type of strap hanger connected thereto in a novel manner.

With the above and other objects in view the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction, arrangement of parts and use, examples of which are given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure l is a front elevational view of the buckle and supplemental buckle applied to a suspender.

Figure 5 is a rear view of the emblem plate.

In the drawings the numeral l designates the frame of the main suspender buckle having the side bars 2, 2 which converge downwardly and terminate in an eye 3 having the pin bearing 4.

The upper ends of the side bars 2 are connected by means of an arch-shaped cross bar 5.

On its rear side the frame I has the outstanding lugs 6, 6 whose free ends are inwardly turned toward each other, as shown more clearly in Figures 2 and 3.

The frame may be of any selected design so as to give it the desired ornamental appearance.

The numeral 1 designates the emblem plate shaped to fit in the frame. This plate is primarily intended to carry, on its front face, an initial letter, as shown in Figure 1. It is shaped to conform to the inside contour of the frame and its lower end terminates in an eye 8 having the bearing 9 therethrough. This plate may be slipped into position underneath the lugs 45 and when in home position the bearings 4 and 9 will register so as to receive the pin l0 having a head 2 H on one end and an annular external groove ii at the other end. The emblem plate I is thus held in assembled relation with the frame.

There is a. strap hanger 52a comprising the links l3 and i4. They are pivoted together at their lower ends by the pin it: and mounted on this pin between the links there is a roller it over which the strap l'l works.

One end of the link l3 has a vertically elongated slot l8 through which the pin I0 is also fitted and the corresponding end of the link M has a J-slot ill to receive the corresponding end of the pin l0, said slotted end of the link l4 fitting snugly in the groove it.

When it is desired to detach the link 54 to open the hanger the hanger may be moved upwardly until the pin I0, is opposite the open end of the slot l9 and the plate M then disengaged from said pin and swung to open position, as shown in Figure 7.

The upper end of the emblem plate has the rearwardly turned cars 20, 20 and between these ears there is a roller 28 having depressible end pintles 22, 22 which work in the bearings 23 of said ears.

On the suspender there is a supplemental buckle frame 24 approximately rectangular in form and which fits against the front side of the suspender. This frame has the inwardly extended ears 25, 25, at its ends, provided with aligned bearings 26. A roller, as 2 I, may be fitted between the cars 25 with its end pintles in the bearings 25.

The suspender may be looped around the roller 2!, carried by the emblem plate and its free end then looped around the roller in the supplemental buckle frame 24 with the frame 2 3 held against the front side of the suspender, in the manner shown in Figure 1.

By depressing one of the end pintles 22 the roller 2! may be removed from the emblem plate and by removing the pin lil said emblem plate may "then be removed from the frame I and another emblem plate having a different initial may be substituted for the removed plate.

What I claim is:

1. A device of the character described comprising a frame having a lower end bearing, a plate on the frame having a lower end bearing arranged. to register with the frame bearing, means for clamping the upper end of the plate to the frame, a pin through said bearings, a strap hanger having links one of which is provided with an oblong slot and the other of which is provided with a J-slot, said pin extending also through said slots and means on the plate for the connection of a suspender thereto.

A device of the character described comprising a frame having a lower end bearing, a plate on the frame having a lower end bearing arranged to register with the frame bearing and also having transversely aligned ears which are formed integrally with the plate and extend out at an angle to the plane of the plate and are provided with aligned bearings, a pin through said first bearings, a strap hanger depending from the pin, lugs on the frame which engage over the plate, a roller having end pintles Which exten through bearings in said ears.
