This invention relates to improvements in ladies vanity accessories particularly compacts and the like.

An object of this invention is to provide an improved device for carrying cosmetics and illuminating the face of the user in the application thereof.

Another object of this invention is to provide means for illuminating a certain predetermined area. i

A further object of this invention is to provide means forcontrolling the illumination emitted therefrom.

Another object of this invention is to provide means for rendering the illuminating means accessible.

A still further object of this invention resides in the provision of cosmetic retaining means.

Another object of this invention is to provide a compact, efficient and inexpensive device of the Figure 1 is a plan view of the instant invention showing the lid in an open position;

' This invention has been conceived due to the difficulties arising from trying to apply cosmetics in dark places such as taxicabs, automobiles (during the night hours), poorly lighted quarters and the like.

Referring now to the chamber 14, a lid 34 is hingedly received on the inner face of the said case I0. Any suitable type of hinge may be used, the simple pivot pin 36 being preferable however. A cantilever arm 38 having a socket 40 at the end thereof is provided on the inner face of the case Ill and within the chamber l4. A bulb or lamp 42 is conventionally received in the said socket 4B. Secured to the said socket is a reflector 44 adapted to project light rays through an appropriate aperture 46 in the said door 34. A lens when the device is in its closed 48 may be provided over the said aperture 46 if so desired. A suitable friction latch 50 is received on an edge of the said door 34 and is adapted to engage the transverse cross member [6.

A pair of friction clamps 52 are received in oppositely disposed relation within the chamber l4 and are adapted to removably secure batteries 56 therein. The said clamps 52 may be secured to the floor of said case by any suitable means such as rivets 58 and the like. A pair of clamps 60 are provided at opposite ends of the said chamber l4 and are adapted to receive the front and back ends of batteries in frictional engagement. A second pair of clamps 62 are provided adjacent the center of said chamber [4 and are adapted to engage the free back and front ends of batteries 56 for frictional engagement therewith. The said pairs ofclips 60 and 62 are insulated from the said housing 10 by a suitable block of insulation 64 in order that they may be electrically free of said case. It is apparent from an inspection of Figure 5 that the above discussed clips 60 and 62 are in an electrical circuit comprising a first battery, a clip 60, a conductor 66 extending to a suitably insulated slide 68, thence a switch 10, a second slide 12 and a conductor 14 WhiCh JiOinS the second of saidpair of clipsgfigfl.
