1 Claim. (Cl. 10286.5)
(Granted under the act of March 3, 1883, as amended April 30, 1928; 370 0. G. 757) The invention described herein may be manuactured and used by or for the Government or governmental purposes without the payment us of any royalty thereon.
This invention relates to a detonator disc of pecial design which increases the structural trength of detonators and improves their ability 0 withstand severe rough handling.
In detonators having conventional fiat discs, evere rough handling such as that encountered 1 handling and transportation, frequently causes he unseating of the disc and the spilling of the harge and consequent failure of the detonator a function.
The object of this invention is to prevent such ailure by use of a cup-shaped detonator disc hose tapered construction, by creating a tronger bond with inside wall of detonator older, strengthens the construction of the detnator which is further strengthened by the ressure of the charge upon the disc when detnator is loaded. This strengthening enables 1e detonator to withstand handling more severe ban is possible with flat discs.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a actional View of rotor assembly containing detnator; Figure 2 is a similar view of a detonator ssembly containing cup-shaped disc; Figure 3 l a plane view of cup-shaped disc and Figure is a sectional view of cup-shaped disc showing ipered wall feature.
In Figure 2, cup shaped disc at is seated in detnator D major diameter of disc 0 being slight- Y larger than the inside diameter of detonator older thereby creating a light force fit with wall E detonator holder (1 at point of juncture e preslre of explosive charge I creates further force at point e which materially improves the strength of the detonator assembly.
We claim:
