Description
Patented Oct. 5, 1948 NITED ETA'E'S A'EENT OFFICE 3 Claims.
The present invention relates to improvements in a portable sitz bath for use on toilet seats wherein a basin arranged to contain a liquid solution and to sit Within an aperture within-a toilet seat operates in conjunction with an annular flange or ring to hold the top of said basin substantially flush with the top of said toilet seat and in annular spaced relation thereto whereby any overflow of solution from said basin will be prevented from contacting said seat and will be conveyed directly into a toilet bowl supporting said seat.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved sitz bath.
Another object is to provide a, new and improved device of the character set forth arranged to hold a liquid solution at a sufliciently high level Within a toilet seat to facilitate an efficient application of said solution to the posterior of a patient seated thereon.
A further application is to provide a sitz bath of the type described having a greatly simplified construction whereby the same easily may be constructed and economically produced and providing full accessibility to all portions thereof to facilitate a thorough cleansing thereof.
A still further object is to provide a new and improved sitz bath in which a maximum overflow therefrom may be eifectively directed or conveyed directly into a toilet bowl to prevent contact of said overflow or liquid with said seat.
I accomplish these and other objects by means of the improved construction and arrangement of parts as disclosed in the drawings forming a part of the present application, and in which- Fig. 1 is a partly broken plan view of my improved sitz bath as applied to a toilet seat; and
Fig. 2 is a broken transverse section taken on line 22 of Fig. 1, in the direction indicated.
Referring to the drawings:
The numeral l is used to designate in general a toilet bowl having the usual apertured seat 2 Arranged to sit within the aperture or opening of said seat 2 is a basin 3 for containing a liquid solution i to be applied to a patient, not shown, seated upon the bath, as hereinafter set forth.
In order to support the top of the basin 3 and the solution 4 therein at the highest possible level to facilitate application of said solution 4, I have as fully disclosed in section in Fig. 2 of the drawings. This flange 1 preferably is arranged to fit comparatively snugly within the opening of the seat 2, and in order to support the upper portion of said basin 3 in spaced relation tothe inner surface of the flange 1 as well as the seat itself, so that a maximum overflow from said basin 3 may be prevented from wetting the seat porting said seat 2.
be had without wetting the seat 2 or spilling the liquid solution beyond the bowl i.
As the ring or annulus 6 easily may be separated from the basin 3, it is obvious that all portions of accessible for cleansing or other purposes.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. A sitz bath comprisin a basin arranged to sit within an opening in a toilet seat; and a ring having an annular depending flange arranged to 5 be seated within said opening and having spaced .means for supporting said basin with the rim thereof in annular spaced relation with said flange.
2. A sitz bath comprising a basin arranged to sit within an opening in a toilet seat; and a ring havin a dependingannular flange arranged to engage said opening and depend below the bottom and support said basin with its rim in annular flange arranged to be seated within said opening the rim thereof in annular spaced relation with said inner surface of said flange.
