I l 5 Claims. (CI. 24-44 The invention is a buckleand the object thereof resides in the provision of an indicia carrying bridge member disconnectably retainedbetween l resilient arms of the U-shaped hasp o'f'the buckle and characterizing means-for concealing the free endof strap'frasteningmeans removably threaded into the buckle. Another object of the invention is realized in the utilization of a trans- Verse brace or bar disengageably interlocked between the armsof the hasp for sustaining the bridge member between the arms of the hasp against displacement. Other objects and functional and structural features of the invention will appear from the following detailed specification considered in the light of the accompanying drawings wherein:

According to the invention, the buckle generally denoted B comprises a U-shaped hasp H of metal or plastic material having the spaced arms I integrally merged with the brace or bar ll having a recess l2 for removably receiving the prong or lip l3 of the tongue I4 extending from the brace l having pintles I6 rotatably and removably receivable in the alined openings or bearing I! in the resilient and spaced arms ll! of the hasp.
The proximal or anterior portions ill of the arms ID are relatively thicker than the distal or posterior portions [9, thus characterizing alined shoulders and adjacent to but spaced from the latter are the fixed positioning pins 2| adapted to be received by the alined and spaced notches 22 in the depending sides 23 of the channeled shaped bridge member 24 having embossed or fastened thereon suitable indicia 25. By this arrangement, the indicia carrying or bridge member may be quickly assembled with arms of the hasp and desirably retained at one end by the fixed positioning pins 2| and against the stop shoulders 20 which limit the displacement of the bridge member towards the proximal part of the hasp.
With the bridge member 24 clasped between and straddled by distal portions I9, alined distal notches 26 of the depending sides 23 are in alinement with the distal and alined openings or bearings 21 of the attenuated clamping portions 19. Thereafter a looking or bar member 28 is inserted between the distal portions IS in such a manner that the pintles 29 are projected through the notches26 of the bridge member 24 and into alined bearings 21. This may be accomplished by first spreading the distal portions l9 slightly apart. However the resilientarms l0 in'unedi ately retract to grasp and hold the'relatively flat inner surfaces of portions 19 against the relative flat outside surfaces of sides 23 of the bridge member 24.- it is allsoapparent that the pins 21 and pintles 29 closely straddle the notched portions of the depending sides 23 thus securely holding the latter 'between the arms l0 and against the stop shoulders 20. Hence the rotatable or swiveled locking bar 28 retains bridge .member 24 in its appropriate set positionJ 1 with the present arrangement the bridge member may be quickly removed from the This is accomplished by spreading the resilient distal portions I9 apart, thus freeing the pintles 29 from the bearings 21 and therefore the rotatable locking bar may be removed from the notches 26. It follows that the bridge member 24 is unlocked and can be readily withdrawn from the positioning pins 2| and if desired be replaced by another bridge member carrying different indicia.
About the rotatable and removable locking bar 28 may be appropriately looped one end of a two ply and stitched strap member 30 to which may be attached a wrist watch 3| also secured to a perforated two ply and stitched strap member 32 adapted to be threaded under the front brace or bar II and between arms I!) whereupon lip l3 may enter a pair of alined perforations 33 after which this strap member 32 is passed over the rockable or rotatable brace I5 and subsequently threaded under the bridge member 24 and between the depending sides 23 thereof whereby terminal or flap 34 of the strap member 32 may be positioned against the rear portion of the loop 35 of the strap member 30 about the rockable locking bar 28.
Thus according to the invention the free end or flap 34 of the strap member 32 is retained behind the buckle and concealed by the bridge member 25, thus doing away with an unsightly freely disposed flap.
Various changes may be made in the form and construction of the embodiment disclosed without departing from the invention or sacrificing the advantages thereof.
I claim:
1. In a buckle, a hasp having spaced arms comprising proximal and distal portions defining alined shoulders, a brace integrally merged with said arms, a bridge member haVing spaced sides interposed between said distal portions and including spaced notches, pins extending from said arms for reception by said notches to position said bridge member between said arms, a rotatable bar removably interlocking with said member and with said. distal portions, a rotatable brace fbe tween said arms and having a lip to cooperate with said hasp, and said shoulders limiting the displacement of said bridge member relative. to said hasp.
2. In a buckle, a beep having spaced resilient arms comprising alined proximal and distal attenuated portions defining alined and spaced shoulders,. a brace integrally merged with said arms, a b'rid'gemember having spaced sides int'erposed between said distal portions and including a pair of distal and spaced notches and a pair of proximal and spaced notches, pins extending from said distal portions for reception by said pair of proximal notches to position said bridge member between said arms, a rotatable bar disposed within said bridge member and having pintles ior-removable-reception by said pair of distal notches and for removable and rotatable reception by said distal portions to maintain said bridge member between said arms, and a rotatable and removable brace between said arms and having a lip to cooperate with said haSp.
3. In combination, spacedarms having spaced bearings'a bridge member interposed between said arms and having posterior and anterior notch means, pin means extending from said arms and removably receivablein said anterior notch, means to preclude displacement of said member transversely of said arms, and a bar having pintles removably receivable in said posterior notch means to preclude longitudinal displacement of said member relative to said arms and removably receivable in said bearings to rotatably sustain said bar relative to said arms.
4. In combination, a hasp having spaced arms including spaced pins and spaced bearings, a bridge member interposed between said arms and having anterior notches removably interlocking with said pins and having posterior notches, a bar interposed between. said arms and, having pintles removably interlocking with said posterior notches and with said bearings, and a brace rotatably carried by said arms and having a lip co- SAMUEL SEGAL.
