Description

Fe. 24, 1948. M. KRITCHMAN POCKETBC'OK PR OVIDED WITH A PERFORATED FRONT WALL POCKET FOR HOUSING A COLORED INSERT Filed Sept. 8, 1945 INVENTOR. MoRRls KRITCHMAN `lllllllll.wlnlllnwlgullllglll ATTORNEY.
Patented Feb. 24, 1948 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE POCKFTBOOK PROVIDED WITH A PERFO- RATED FRONT WALL POCKET FOR HOUS- ING A CLORED INSERT 1 Claim.
This invention relates to pocketbooks.
Broadly, it is an ob-ect of my invention to provideA a pocketbook. the color scheme of which can be changed at will to harmonize with the color of the clothes of the user.
More particularly, it is an obiect of my invention to provide a pocketbook having a perforated design with a pocket or compartment so that sheets of different colors may be inserted in such compartment to permit a change of color scheme as desired.
A further object is to provide a pocketbook with a perforated design and compartment directly behind the perforated design wall for sheets of different'colors and for housing flat sheets or articles.
Most women prefer to have their purse match the color scheme of the garment being worn. Heretofore. a number of pocketbooks and purses of different color schemes were used. This necessitates the removal of articles from one purse to another. By using mv pocketbook. it would be a simple matter to change the color scheme to harmonize with the garment being worn by simply changing the color of the insert to harmonize with the clothes. The color of the purse or pocketbook could be of a neutral shade such as black. white or gray. while sheets of diierent coors and textures can be used for the insert.
For a fuller understanding of the nature and obects of mv invention. reference is had to the following detailed description in connection with the accompanying drawings. in which:
Fig. 1 is a front view of the pocketbook showing a sheet of different color partially withdrawn from its pocket.
Fig. 2 is a vertical cross section.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the pocket in open position showing the colored sheet partially removed from its pocket.
Referring to the drawings. numeral I represents a pocketbook having a front wall I I of perforated design. A secondary wall I2 is placed directly behind wall II providing compartment I3. A slit I4 in the secondary wall is provided with slide fastener elements I5 for closing compartment I3. One or more sheets I5 of different colors are provided slightly smaller in size than the outside dimensions of the pocketbook Ill so that sheets I9 may iit into compartment I3. The color of sheet I6 will show through the openings of the design in wall I I. In order to change the color combination of the pocketbook, sheet I6 can be reversed because it can be of different color on the reverse side. Several sheets may be housed in compartment I3, each of different i color and texture. Such sheets may be dull or glazed, or may be of leather, fabric, paper, cardboard, plastic or other like material. A luminous sheet may be used so that the background would glow in the dark to bring out the outline of the design in the front wall. Compartment I3 may also be used as a wall compartment to conveniently house money, papers or at documents. Other compartments, such as I1, of different sizes and depth may be provided for a large variety of objects and papers usually carried by a women. A glove flap I8 may be provided on one of the Walls of the inner compartment to conveniently house gloves when.` desired.
I do not desire to be conned to any particular design since a large variety of designs may be used. Nor do I desire to be limited to any shape of pocketbook since that may be altered in accordance with the style. material and design.
It is obvious that various changes and modications may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of the invention.
I claim:
In a pocketbook of the character described, comprising a compartment substantially the entire width and height of the pocketbook formed between a front wall and a backing wall and secured together at their peripheral edges, said backing wall being provided with closure means, said front Wall being perforated to form a design, a colored sheet of material smaller in size than said front and back walls insertable in said compartment whereby said colored sheet of material is visible through said perforated front wall.
MORRIS KRITCHMAN.
