FINGER-COMPRESS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 237,949, dated February 22, 1881.
Application led J une 13, 1879.
' caved plates of metal Or other suitable material by a hinge and spring, or by a springhinge.
In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a hand, showing my invention as applied to a finger. showing my invention as applied to a finger. Fig. 3 shows the end Ot' a Enger lattened. Fig. 4 is a perspective view Otl my invention, and Fig. 5 represents the blank from which my invention is struck; up.
The compressor is made of any suitable ma- Jaerial-for instance, metal, hard rubber,ce1lu loid, &c.-and may be covered or padded with Fig. 2 is an enlarged view,`
suitable material, like silk Or kid. The general shape is represented in the drawings.
In construction I prefer the bow-spring B rather than a hinge and spring, though it may be made that way, if desirable.
The leading idea of my invention is to make a device consisting of two longitudinally-concaved compressors, which are so connected to each other that when placed upon the finger the compressors exert a gentle but constant pressure upon the protruding iiesh of the iinger-tips, and thus reduce the enlargement, as shown in Fig. 3, so as tO restore the 1in ger-tips to their normal symmetry.
I claim- A linger-compress consisting of two longitudinal concaved plates, hinged together at one end by a spring-hinge, B, and adapted to fit the finger-tips, so that they may exert a pressure upon them, whereby the said tips may lbe restored to their normal symmetry, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
