This-invention relates to end stops for separable iastener stringers, and more particularly the invention relates to an end stop wherein a plurality of links at adjacent stringer ends are Joined together, and to each other, by means engaging coupling ends of said links to impart following description when taken together with the accompanying drawing in which certain embodiments ofthe invention are disclosed, and in which the separate parts are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views and in which:

In the construction of end stops for separable fasteners to be used on closures wherein the stringer tapes are brought together beyond the end links, adjacent the wide or web end of the slider it has been customary to employ supplemental means engaging the tapes to draw the same together in the desired manner. Such supplemental means permanently attached to the tapes can be removed only with difliculty, and such removal generally results in damage to the tape and impairment of subsequent use of the fastener.
It is the purpose of the present invention to dispense with supplemental devices attached to the tapes and to unite the tape ends to form an end stop to cooperate with the web end of a slider by utilizing means directly engaging a plurality of links of each stringer in a manner to impart a substantially arcuate contour to said links in drawing toward each other those farthest removed from the slider.

It will be understood in this'connection that the invention applies equally to a construction wherein the stringers are arranged on independent tapes. The coupling ends it of the links I: and I! are provided with apertures it passing therethrough in a direction parallel to the beaded edge I! of the tape. In the construction shown in the drawing the apertures ll form in conjunction with the projections 20, the, inter-locking'means between links I! and "of: co-acting stringers, said links being double acting. It will be understood, however,-that the invention is not limited to this construction, but links of any type and kind may be fashioned to provide apertures such as the apertures I! through the coupling ends thereof.
Arranged in the apertures II of a plurality of links I! and I3 adjacent the ends of the stringers is a strand-like member II adapted to draw the links into an arcuate conto'ur substantially as indicated in the drawing. For purposes of illustration the member II has been indicated thesubstantially arcuate contour by the member II.
While for purposes of illustration the member 2| has been shown and described as a wire. it will be understood that any strand-like member may be employed having means equivalent to the oflsets 22 for retaining the member in connection with a plurality of links I! and II, whileat the same time drawing the-coupling ends ll of the links toward each other in the manner indicated, thereby bringing the beaded edge portions I! of the stringers into lusts-position beyond the end links a and its. 4
In the construction shown in the drawing wherein the stringers are on a single continuous tape ll the foldedportion Ila of the tape may be secured'to the main portionof the tape I by a line of stitching It, which lineof stitch- .ing will operate to retain the beaded edges II in dusts-position. It will be understood in this connection that if the stringers constituted sep arate tapes, .it might be desirable to stitch t0" V gether the beaded edges l5 beyond the end links l2a, his in substantially the position of the line of stitching 23. 'Such stitching would not constitute an essential part of the end stop construction, but would merely serve to maintain alignment of the tapes beyond the end stop.
' The showing in the drawing constitutes but one adaptation of our invention, and it will be understood that it is within the scope of our invention to employ any means for coupling and drawing together-a plurality of links at the ends of adjacent stringers to impart to said links a substantially arcuate contour while at the same time forming a closed loop between said stringers which is adapted to be closely engaged by the stringers having apertures formed longitudinally claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patv ent is: g

An end stop for separable fasteners adapted to be engaged by the web end of a slider in the fully closed position thereof on the fastener, said end stop comprising means directly engaging a. plurality of links at end portions of adjacent stringers and supporting said links in a substantially arcuateclosed loop contour.
2. An end stop for separable fasteners adapted to be engaged by the web end of a slider in the fully closed position thereof on the fastener, said end stop comprising means directly engaging a.

In separable fasteners employing stringers, said stringers comprising links spaced longitudinally of a tape edge, the links having coupling portions protruding beyond the tape edges, the coupling portions of the links of each stringer having apertures extending there-through and a strand-like coupling element arranged in the apertures of predetermined links of both stringers for joining said stringers.
'7. In separable fasteners employing stringers, said stringers comprising links spaced longitudinally of a tape edge, the links having coupling portions protruding beyond the tape edges, the coupling portions of the links of each stringer having apertures extending there-through, a

5. A closed loop end stop for separable fasteners of the class described, said end stop com prising a plurality of end links on adjacent links of each stringer and bridging adjacent links of said stringers for uniting said opposed stringers while maintaining said links disengaged from each other.
9. The combination with the coupling end portions of the links of opposed stringers of a separable fastener, of means engaging predetermined links of each stringer and bridging adjacent links of said stringers for uniting said opposed stringers, said means comprising a U shaped member engaging recessed portions of said links, and means retaining said member against displacement from said links.
10. In separable fasteners, the combination with widely spaced link chains on a single mounting tape, of a coupling member engaging adjacent links of said chains, forcoupling the chain ends in close proximity to each other but with links disengaged from each other and means retaining the coupling member against displacement from said links.
11. A fastener of the class described comprising double acting scoops of common construction mounted on a single tape, said tape having a fold intermediate the ends thereof forming two series of scoops in .iuxaposed relation for coupling and uncoupling, said scoops having apertures therein formed longitudinally of said tapes; a plurality of scoops adjacent said fold having substantially U-shaped means extending through said aper-
