In combination with a drain duct in a basement floor or the like which is underlaid by Water and subject to overflow, a removable drain reiief device consisting of an eduction pipe opening into and leading upwardly from said duct, sealing means for sealing said pipe around said duct to prevent direct escape of Water therefrom, and a discharge pipe connected with said eduction pipe and having its discharge end located in a position subjected to less pressure than that to which the water to be drained is subjected, detachable means for holding said eduction pipe Cil in xed relation to said drain duct comprising a plate adjustable upon said eduction pipe, horizontal rods slidable outwardly from said plate and adapted to engage a fixed fitting adjacent the drain duct and said sealing member comprising a compressible sealing cup carried by the eduction pipe and backing means adjustable on said eduction pipe and adapted to exert pressure against said cup to seal the same against said drain opening, said backing means including an inverted cup slidable on said eduction pipe, and a member screw threaded onto said eduction pipe and adapted to bear against said inverted cup.
