Description
(Model.)
B. ARNOLD. Bridle.
No. 229,792. Patented July 6,1880.
WITNESSES INVENTOR @255 cfi/fiz/flmzzu. a MWM ATTORNF "5.
MPEIERS, PHOTD-LTTHOGRAPNER, WASHINGTON. BY 04 be following is a specification. [My invention consists in a novel arrange- Y UNITED, STATES To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, RHODES ARNOLD, of Waltham, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bridles, of which ment of the bridle-rein, whereby the rider is enabled to exercise control over the animal without exerting great power and without extraordinary strain upon-the rein itself.
The accompanying drawings represent a bridle embodying my improvement, Figure 1 being a front view, Fig. 2 a side view, and Fig. 3 a section in the line a: a: of Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the head-piece, B the cheekpiece, and O the bit.
In ordinary bridles the rein is buckled to the bit-rings.
In my invention the rein D has its front ends attached to the inner or under surface of PATENT OFFICEO RHODES ARNOLD, OF WALTHAM, MASSACHUSETTS.
BRIDLE.
' SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 229,792, dated July 6, 1880.
' Application filed June 3, 1880. (ModeL) the head-piece A, passing from thence through the bit-rings f.
By this arrangement the slightest pull on the rein has a tendency to tighten the bit in the mouth and enable the rider to exercise perfect control over the animal.
The portions of the rein which pass through the bit-rings are re-enforced by an extra layer of leather, in order to increase the durability of said portions and prevent them from becoming too much worn by friction in the rings.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- The combination, with the head-piece A and bit 0, of the rein D, attached to the head-piece and passed through the bit-rings f, as shown and described, for the purpose specified.
RHODES ARNOLD.
