The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in flashlight holders and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a device of this character embodying a novel construction and arrangement whereby a flashlight may be conveniently held in the mouth thereby leaving both hands free.

Another very important object of the invention is to provide a flashlight holder of the aforementioned character comprising a unique chin brace whereby the jaw will be relieved of much of the strain necessary to support the flashlight.

Other objects of the invention are to provide a flashlight holder of the character described which will be comparatively simple in construction, strong, durable, highly eicient and reliable in use, compact, light in weight and which may be manufactured at low cost.

All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:

Figure l is a view in side elevation of a flashlight holder constructed in accordance with the present invention, showing the device in use.

Figure 2 is a perspective view, showing the holder attached to a flashlight.

Figure 3 is a view in vertical longitudinal section through the device, showing said device mounted on the rear end portion of a flashlight.

Referring now to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises a rubber cap I having molded therein a threaded metal lining 'I to be screwed on the rear end portion of a conventional ashlight 2 in lieu of the usual cap thereon. This is illustrated to advantage in Fig. 2 of thedrawing.

Projecting rearwardly from the cap I is a substantially T-shaped, integral bit 3 which is adapted to be inserted in the mouth and securely gripped between the teeth.

Depending from the cap I is an integral brace 4 of an appropriate shape for engagement with the chin. The brace 4 is provided with an opening 5 to facilitate hanging the ashlight up when it is not in use.

It is thought that the manner in which the invention functions will be readily apparent from a consideration of the foregoing. Briefly, the bit 3 is inserted in the mouth and gripped between the teeth. Obviously, the shape of the bit 3 is such that it may be retained between the teeth with a minimum of effort. The brace 4 rests against the chin and greatly assists in supporting the flashlight 2 in the desired position. The usual switch 6 of the flashlight may then be closed and it will thus be seen that both hands are left free. It will be observed that the complete device, with the exception of the lining 'I, comprises a single piece of rubber or other suitable material.

It is believed that the many advantages of a ashlight holder constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood and although a preferred embodiment of the device is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.

What is claimed is:

A flashlight holder of the character described comprising a cap, a threaded lining of current conducting material in the cap and adapted to be screwed on one end portion of a flashlight for removably mounting said cap thereon, an integral, substantially T-shaped bit projecting longitudinally from the Cap, said bit adapted to be gripped between the teeth, and an integral brace depending from the cap and engageable with the chin for assisting in supporting the flashlight in a forwardly projecting position, said brace having an opening therein for the reception of a support for hanging the flashlight thereon.
