The present invention isdirected to coats and more particularly to reversible coats. The dominating object of the invention is realized in the provision of a serviceable and completely reversible coat adapted to be utilized as a top coat for relatively cool weather or as an overcoat suitable in severe weather upon removably attaching thereto a jacket or lining suspended severally from the inside faces thereof irrespective whether the coat is arranged outside in or inside out. The

invention has as another object the provision of a reversible coat having on the inside and outside faces at the neck portion thereof opposed and identical slide fastener elements severally adapted to disconneotably couple a complementary slide fastener element arranged at the upper neck portion of the jacket. V The invention has as a further object the provision of a removable jacket adapted to be suspended from the upper neck portion only of the inside faceof a garment by slide fastener means and'having wing portions secured to corresponding wing portions of the coat by loop and button means. Other important objects, salient features, and functional and structural advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following detailed description considered in the light of the accompanying drawing wherein:

' The reversible coat C according to the invention and as illustrated in Figs. 1 and 5 has its fabric side 'F on the inside thereof while its waterproof side W is on the outside. reversible type of garment is Well known in the art but difficulty has been experienced in attaching to the inside face thereof a detachable linin L or jacket to enhance the warmth of the coat, in the matter of overcoming undesirable bulkiness caused by the jacket after having been attached selectively to the inside faces of the coat.

According to the invention, the neck portion at the upper edge only of the jacket L is provided with a slide fastener element 10 having the slid-' ably guided runner I I and the stop socket I2.

In the illustrations of Figs. 5 and 6, the slide fastener element I6 is on the inside of the garment and'-extends below the collar support or 3') fabric neck portion I4 at the upper margin I8 of the fabric side F. In case the coat is turned inside out as in Fig. 2 where the fabric side F is on the outside and raincoat or waterproof side W is on the inside, the stringer or slide fastener element I! extends below the waterproof collar support or neck portion l5 at the upper margin IQ of waterproof side W.

The slide fastener elements or stringers l6 and I! are identical in construction and are selectively and severally associated with the slide fastener element IU of the jacket having the slidable runner II and when concealed characterize a zipper fastener of the type well known in the art and since stringer Hi can be removably attached to either of the'stringers IE or II, the stud 33 at corresponding ends of each of the stringers l3 and I! are severally utilized to permit the threading of the slidably guided runner II on stringers It or IT to allow the complementary hook members of the stringers as It and III or I! and I to be interconnected or closed when the slide fastener runner or slider I I is moved in one direction and disconnected or opened when moved in an opposite direction. However where the runner is to be attached to one of the stringers of the coat, it is first positioned against the stop socket l2 and thereafter it is threaded on the companion stud 33 of the upper stringer, which stud is arranged within the positioning bore of socket l2 and thereafter the runner is moved to close the zipper, which action causes the separable lips 34 and 35 carried by the upper and lower stringers to conceal the interlocking hooks thereof. vOf course where the jacket is to be removed from the coat, the zipper is opened and the stringer of the jacket is disconnected and rethe garment after which the garment may be turned inside out and to the inner face of the garment the jacket may be again attached to the stringer on the new inside face.

Where the jacket is suspended by a pair of companion and disconnectable upper and lower stringers and at the inside posterior neck portion of the garment as set forth above, the wings 26 and 28 of the jacket are desirably held in place to the inside face of the garment by suitable buttons 36 secured to wing 31 of the fabric side F and removably interlocking with the walls of the buttonholes 21 of the jacket. However wing 28 of the jacket is secured to the garment by passing loops 25 through the buttonholes-38 and positioning these loops over the buttons 39 fastened to the outside wing 40 of the waterproof side W. With this arrangement, the wings of the jacket can be readily attached to the wings of the coat and where the fabric side is on the inside the Thus the jacket may be buttonholed to be utilized as a top coat without the jacket. In colder weather, the jacket may be readily attached to either the fabric or waterproof side. Thus with the present construction a completely reversible coat is provided which may be tailored adequately and to which warmth may be added by attaching the removable jacket thereto, thus providing a comfortably fitting overcoat adapted for the severest weather and when worn the slide fastener elements are adequately concealed.

By the expression slide fastener element is meant a row of hooks secured to a flexible tape, the row of hooks forming a part of slide fastener means of the type known in the art as a zipper, or alternatively each row of hooks may be considered as a stringer, the latter term likewise being well known in the art.

Various changes may be made in details of construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof inherent therein.

I claim:

1. A garment having an inside and outside face, a. row of fastening members mounted along said inner face and extending widthwise and substantially along the neckline thereof, a row of fastening members mounted along said outer face and extending widthwise and substantially along the neckline thereof, a jacket having a row of fastening members arranged along theneckline thereof and complementary to either of said row of fastening members on said inner face or on said outer face and cooperable with said 2. A garment having an inside and outside face, a slide fastener element mounted along said inner face and extending widthwise. and intermediate of and'substantially adjacent the top edge thereof," a slide fastener element mounted along 'said outer face and widthwise and intermediate of and substantially adjacent the top edge thereof, a jacket having slide fastener means complementary to either of said elements and having a runner cooperable with the slide fastener element of said inner face for disconnectably suspending said jacket thereto, and a turnable collar when turned down concealing said slide fastener element on said outer face.

4. A garment having a back and wing portions embodying an inner face, a slide fastener element mounted along said inner face adjacent the top edge only of said back and extending widthwise substantially along the neckline thereof. a jacket having a neck edge portion and wing means, a slide fastener element sustained by said edge portion only and complementary to first mentioned slide fastener element unit and having slidable means cooperable-therewith for disconnectably suspending said jacket thereto, and means independent of said elements for detachably securing said wing means to said wing portions.

5. A reversible garment having a back including an inner face and an outer face, a slide fastener element mounted along said inner face along the top of said back and extending widthwise only along the neckline thereof, a slide fastener element mounted along said outer face along the top of said back and extending widthwise only along the neckline thereof and substantially in opposition to said first mentioned element, a jacket having a neck edge portion, fastener means sustainedby said edge portion at the neckline only thereof and complementary to either of said slide fastener elements, a runner cooperable with said elements to severally attach the latter to said fastener means for disconnectably suspending "said jacket from said inside face or from said outside face if disposed on the inside of saidgarment, and a reversible collar when turned down adapted to conceal said element on said outer face when disposed outwardly.

A reversible garment having a back including an inside face and an outer face, a slide fastener element mounted along said inner face along the top only of said back and extending widthwise of the neckline thereof, a slide fastener element mounted along said outer face along the top only of said back and extending widthwise at the neckline thereof, a jacket having a neck edge portion, a slide fastener element sustained by said edge portion, a runner slidably carried by said last mentioned element for severally and detachably interlocking the aforementioned elements mounted on said inside and outer faces with said slide fastener element sustained by said edge portion, said elements mounted on said inside and outer faces each embodying positioning means, a socket carried by thesaid element sustained by said edge portion and severally adapted to be removably mounted on the positioning means of said elements mounted on said inside and outer faces, and a reversible collar at the upper part of said garment and adapted when turned down to conceal said aforementioned element mounted on said outer face. 1

A garment having a back and wing portions including an inside and outside face and holes communicating with said faces, a row of fasteners mounted along said inner face at the upper portion of said back and extending widthwise thereof, a row of fasteners mounted along said outer face at the upper portion of said back and extending widthwise thereof, a jacket having fastener means severally complementary to either of said row of fasteners and severally cooperable with the said row of fasteners on the said inner face for disconnectably suspending said jacket thereto, a turnable collar when turneddown concealing said row of fasteners on said outer face, buttons on one of said wing portions and on said outside face, loops connected to said jacket and projectable into and through said holes to straddle and interlock with c said buttons, buttons on another of said wing portions and on said inside face, and said jacket including buttonholes for receiving said last, I

8. A garment having a back and wing portions including an inside and outside face and holes communicating with said faces, a slide fastener element between said wing portions and mounted along said inner face "and only at the upper portion of said back and extending substantially along the 'neckline and widthwise thereof, a jacket having slidable fastener means substantially at the neckline thereof and complementary to said element for disconnectably suspending said jacket thereto, buttons on one of said wing portions and on said outside face, loops connected to said jacket and projectable into and through said holes to detachably straddie and interlock with'said buttons, and detachable means for securin another of sald'wing portions to said jacket.

9.
