IMPROVEMENT IN SHOW-CASES.

In the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters of reference indicate like parts, Figure 1 is a view, in perspective, of a showcase embodying my improvement. Fig. 2 is avertical transverse section of the same.

a is the frame of the show-case, which may be of any shape, although my improvcmentis especially adapted to show-cases whose fronts.

are in part or wholly vertical. bis the sliding shelf, suspended by means of brackets c from the horizontal rods or wires (1, upon which the brackets slide. These rods d are placed usually near the top of the show-case, and are sustained by the plates 0, into which their front ends screw, and the eyes f. The rear end of the rod d being turned or bent at about a right angle, the rod can be screwed into the plate 0 until the bent end 01 is forced against the eye f, thus making the rod stifi and firm.

To impart greater smoothness to the sliding of the shelf, additional rods 9 may be placed beneath it, the shelf being provided with eyes It, through which said rods pass, such rods being held by means of plates k, similar to the plates 0, and the bent ends 9 held in staples or eyes 6.

Thus it will be seen that the shelves are secure, free from the insecurity of swinging shelves, and yet may be easily and smoothly slid back and forth at will.

b is a back secured to the shelf at an obtuse angle, and provided with a mirror, I), the object being to reflect the objects on the shelf to the person looking down into the show-case.

Having thus fullydescribed my improvement, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isi 1. A show-case provided with ahorizontallysliding shelf, such shelf being adapted or arranged to be supported by and slide back and forth upon rods or wires, substantially as and for the purpose above set forth.

2. The combination of the shelf 1), rods d d, plates 6, eyesf, and bracket 0, arranged within the show-case, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

3. The combination of the shelf 1), bracket 0, rods d d, and rods g g, said rods being supported within the show-case, substantially as and for the purpose described.
