Application September 5, 1989, Serial'No. 293,491 2 Claims. (01, 3871) I This invention relates to pressing machines, plied with current through the medium of a and its general object is to provide a machine conductor 1! connected thereto at one end, while that is primarily designed for pressing neckties its opposite end is connected to a pronged socket of the four-in-hand type, in a manner to restore member l2 secured to the yoke 2 and for the purthe same to their original shape and a new like pose of receiving a companion member [3 of the appearance, in that the machine is capable of usual electric cord M. applying ample pressure and heat to the tie and The yoke 2 has formed thereon andextending a shaping element is provided for the latter. inwardly from the upper arm thereof a pair of A further object is to provide an electric pressspaced parallel ears I5 providing bearings fora ing machine for a necktie that can be operated pivot pin 16 secured to and extending through 10 With minimum eifort on the part of the user and one end of a pressing lever I1, the latter being is simple in construction, inexpensive to manurelatively wide and of a length to extend from facture, and extremely efiicient in operation, use the yoke 2 to the yoke I, as well as to overlie and service. the latter, as best shown in Figure 2. The free This invention also consists in certain other end of the pressing lever I! is upwardly flared to 15 features of construction and in the combination provide ample hand gripping means I8 to faciliand arrangement of the several parts, to be heretate the application of pressure to the lever.

The element 23 is made into several sizes for shaping ties of various widths, and two elements are preferably used for pressing a tie, one for the wide end portion thereof, and the other for the narrow end portion. The shaping elements may have an opening therein adjacent one of their ends, for receiving a nail or the like for suspending the same therefrom when not in use.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. A pressing machine comprising spaced yokes providing the ends of the machine and opening toward the front thereof to provide upper and lower arms, a base plate secured to and bridging the lower arms, a pad mounted on the plate, a cover for the pad, a marginal flange about the base plate and disposed in clamping engagement with the marginal edge portion of the cover for securing the pad to the base plate, said pad and cover providing a pliable support for articles to be pressed, an electric heating unit movable between the upper arms and the support for cooperation with the latter for pressing articles, a hand lever pivotally connected at one end to the upper arm of one of said yokes, means rising from the heating unit and having the lever pivotally connected between its ends thereto for carrying the unit and spring means secured to the lever and engaged with the latter arm for normally holding the unit elevated above the support.
2..A pressing machine for four-in-hand ties, comprising spaced yokes providing the ends of the machine and opening toward the front thereof to provide superimposed upper and lower arms, a pliable support for receiving a tie to be pressed and secured to and bridging the lower arms, an electric heating unit movable between the upper arms and the pliable support and cooperating with the latter for pressing a tie, ears formed on the upper arm of one of said yokes, a hand lever having one end pivoted to the ears, a mounting bracket secured to and rising from the heating unit and having the lever pivotally connected between its ends-thereto for carrying the unit, and spring means secured to the underside of said lever and including spring arms engaged with the latter yoke for normally holding the unit elevated above the support.
