Description

April 23, 1940. c. VAN TONGEREN TOY Filed March 9, 1959 17 47 jo Elqd i' nl@ u \,5 x/O 1 m m Y 7 N/l Patented Apr. 23, 1940 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
The present invention relates to toys .and more particularly to miniature toy outhouses.
The primary object of the instant invention is to provide a toy of the character above indicated having a member slidable in opposite directions, the opposite sides of which member represent doors within one of which is the representation of a urinal trough and within the other of which is the representation of a toilet seat.
` An illustrative embodiment oi the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing one end of the toy outhouse with its slidable member slid to one open position;
Figure 2 is a view similar to that shown in Figure 1 but showing the opposite end of the toy outhouse and its slidable member slid to its other open position;
Figure 3 is a sectional view thereof on line 3 3 oi Figure 4; and
Figure 4 is a sectional view on line 4-4 of Figure 3, the slidable member being shown in dotted lines as slid to .an open position opposite its slid and open position shown in full lines.
Referring then to the drawing wherein like parts of the toy shown are designated by the same numerals in the several views, the miniature outhouse generally comprises the horizontally disposed base member I0, vertically disposed side walls II, I2, end walls I3, I4 and angularly inclined roof members I5.
The end walls ,are each provided with door openings I6 and a W-shaped member, generally designated I'I, is slidable within the toy outhouse and outwardly through the door openings to extreme opposite positions as shown in both full and dotted lines in Figure 4.
A projecting depending stop I8, here shown as a nail, engages the inner side oi the vertically extending outer leg I9 of the slidable member I1 when slid to its position shown in full lines in Figure 4 for limiting its extreme slid position in that direction and the stop likewise engages the 5 inner side of the vertically extending opposite outer leg 20 of the slidable member when slid to its opposite position shown in dotted lines in the same View i'or limiting its extreme slid position in that direction.
The middle vertical leg 2l of the slidable member I1 is shorter than the opposite outer legs I9, 2D to permit the stop to pass thereover during the sliding movement of the slidable member and on` one side of the middle leg 2| is the representa- 15 tion of a urinal trough 22 whereas on the opposite side thereof is the representation of a toilet seat 23.
While but one specific embodiment of the invention has been herein shown and described, it 20 will be understood that certain details of the construction shown may be altered or omitted without departing from the spirit of this invention as the same is defined by the following claim.
I claim:
A toy house comprising: opposite vertical Walls with aligned door openings therethrough; a drawer having opposite closure ends and a medial partition with a marginal gap therethrough, the drawer being horizontally slidable to a medial 30 position wherein its closure ends close the door openings, and to opposite alternately open positions; and a stop adapted to pass through the gap while the drawer moves to either open position and to engage the inner side of .a closure end for 35 holding the drawer against movement in one direction from either open position.
