From the foregoing it is apparent that the invention provides a collapsible military type cap having a neat swanky appearance when worn and which affords adequate protection against wind, rain, sun, cold, etc., and which can be conveniently folded and packed when not in service. Various changes and modifications in respect to size, construction, and design of the cap may be made within the scope of the appended claims; What is claimed is: 2 1. A collapsible military cap having in combination a head band provided with an'unstifh ened crown of flexible material and a visor, asweat band inside of the head band, an ornament on the outside of the front portion of the crown, a rigid ornament supporting member inside the said front portion of the crowniand extending down inside the sweat band, said member'being' combination, a soft head band provided with a collapsible crown, an ornament for the: outside of the front portion of the crown, and a stiffening member on the inside of the front portion of the crown and secured'at its upper end to the said ornament, said stiffener being free at its low er end so that when the cap is not'worn the stiffe ener and ornament are adapted 'of their' own weight to assume a prone position with the crown collapsed upon the headband, the said stiffener and ornament and front portion of the cap automatically being forced into upright position by the pressure of the forehead of the wearer against The sweat leather la of the head band has sufiicient givei, when the cap is not worn, to permit the lower end' the lower end of the stiffener when the cap is worn.

A collapsible military type cap having in combination, a soft head band provided with a sweat leather and a collapsible crown,v an ornament for the outside of the frontportion of the crown, and a front-stiffening member on the inside of the said front portion of the crown and secured at one end to the said ornament, said member being of a length to extend at its other ,end inside the sweat leather and being free at said other end so that when the cap is not worn the stifiener and ornament are adapted by their own weight to assume a prone position with the crown collapsed upon, the head band, the said stiffenerand ornament and front portion of the cap automatically being forced into upright position by the pressure of the forehead of the wearer against the sweat leather at the free end of the stiifeningmember when the capis worn.
