CHESTER CAMP, OF LYNDON, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF HIS RIGHT TO a WELOOM CAMP, OF MACHIAS, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN FENCES.
Specification'forming part of Letters Patent No. 215,570, dated May 20, 1879; application filed i February 25, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHESTER CAMP, of Lyndon, in the county of Gattaraugus and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fences; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference be'ing had to the accompanying drawing, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which forms a part of this specification.
The figure in the drawing represents a view in perspective of a fence embodying the improvements in my invention.
The invention relates to portable fences; and it consists inthe improvements in the construction of the same hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
Referring to the drawing, 0 G G and H H H are ordinary panels and bars, supported in position to form a fence by a post of novel construction, made as follows: A base, B, is recessed at a and perforated at b, and is provided with a pair of uprights, F, recessed at f for the reception of wire bands G, which serve as a support for the-rails, and at the same time admit of being drawn tight, so as to securely bind or secure said rails in posi tion. A cap, 0, recessed at c, is placed over vthe upper rail or rider, and is firmly secured in position by wire loops or hands D, connecting it with the base B.
For use with the posts F, the rails are rabbeted at the end that is to connect with the post A, and these rabbeted ends lap the ends of the boards 0 where these ends come in contact with the post E and rails H. The crossbands Gr support the ends of the rails. The bases of the posts A and E rest upon the ground, and the fence may be transported from place to place at pleasure.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is'
In combination with the panels 0 and bars H, a fence-post composed of the base B, recessed at a, and provided with the uprights F, recessed at f, and having the wire bands G, the whole being connected and secured by the recessed cap 0 to the base B by the bands D, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHESTER CAMP.
